Job Description Summary:

The Certifications Manager oversees product compliance, certification, and regulatory approvals for electrical and optical connectors. This role will ensure adherence to ATEX, IECEx, UL, CSA, CCCEx, UKCA, KCs, INMETRO, EAC, FM Global, Marine Type: DNV, LR-Lloyds Register, BV and ABS,) and other relevant hazardous and safe area location certification requirements. Works cross-functionally with engineering, quality, and regulatory external teams to maintain and expand product certifications, ensuring compliance with industry and government regulations.

 

Knowledge/Skills:

· In-depth understanding of electrical and mechanical engineering principles relevant to hazardous location equipment.

· Strong analytical skills for interpreting and applying certification and compliance requirements.

· Ability to create and manage technical documentation, including certification reports and compliance manuals.

· Familiarity with product testing and quality assurance methodologies.

· Excellent time management skills with the ability to prioritize tasks effectively.

· Strong interpersonal skills for working with regulatory agencies, internal teams, and external stakeholders.

· Ability to conduct risk assessments and implement corrective actions as needed.

· Proficiency in tracking certifications and regulatory updates.

 

Qualifications – Education/Experience:

 

Required Qualifications

· Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related technical field.

· 5+ years of experience in certification management, regulatory compliance, or quality assurance for electrical products, preferably in hazardous locations.

· Strong knowledge of ATEX / IECEx, IEC60079, and other hazardous location certification standards.

· Experience working with third-party certification bodies as Intertek, CSA Group, UL, DNV, Bureau Veritas, American Bureau of Shipping, and/or similar certification body.

· Familiarity with electrical connectors design, testing, and manufacturing processes.

· Experience on Quality Standards for Quality Management systems as ISO-9001:2015.

· Excellent project management and organizational skills.

· Strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.

· Effective communication and collaboration skills to work across departments.

 

Preferred Qualifications

· Lead auditor or internal auditor for Quality Management Systems as ISO:9001.

· Experience with international certification processes beyond North America and Europe.

· Knowledge of hazardous location protection techniques such as explosion-proof, intrinsic safety, and increased safety methods.

· Experience with RoHS & REACH compliance.

 

Duties/Responsibilities:

· Lead, manage, and maintain the hazardous and safe area certifications of the products, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards as IEC60079.

· Lead the certification process for new and existing products in coordination with external certification bodies,

external testing laboratories, AET’s Engineering department, and AET’s Sales department.

· Coordinate certification, re-certification and/or maintenance audits from third-party certification bodies.

· Conduct audits into new and existent, internal and external, manufacturing processes associated with the hazardous area products in alignment with ISO 9001 and other regulatory standards.

· Collaborate with internal and external quality assurance teams to address non-conformances and implement corrective actions related to internal and external audits.

· Conduct assessments to identify risks and initiate corrective and preventive actions to mitigate or eliminate the risk and ensure continued product compliance with standards and regulations.

· Stay updated on changes in industry standards and regulatory requirements, advising internal teams on necessary design or process modifications.

· Work closely with engineering and product development teams to integrate compliance requirements into product design.

· Develop and maintain technical documentation required for regulatory submissions, including product specifications, test reports, risk assessments, procedures and quality plans.

· Prepare, review, and submit documentation for certification applications and renewals.

· Analyze and improve as needed the internal and external product testing to ensure compliance with hazardous location standards

· Develop and implement compliance strategies to meet international, national, and regional certification requirements.

· Provide technical support and training to internal stakeholders regarding certification and compliance requirements.

· Serve as the primary point of contact for certification agencies, ensuring timely and efficient communication.

· Drive continuous improvement initiatives related to certification and compliance processes.

· Lead the project to implement RoHS & REACH compliance
