Street Technician

Job Summary:

Under direct supervision, performs manual labor to maintain and makes repairs to public right-of ways and properties.  In addition to using manual hand tools, may be required to operate some equipment and small machinery.

Major Responsibilities:

  • Constructs and/or repair streets, alleys, and sidewalks made of asphalt or concrete
  • Constructs and/or repairs storm sewers, catch basins
  • Maintains rights-of-way
  • Sprays pesticides and herbicides
  • Trims trees using a bucket truck
  • Removes brush
  • Mows and brush hogs
  • Trims grass using a weed eater
  • Performs other duties as assigned, including assisting other departments as required.

Minimum Qualifications & Required Knowledge:

  • High school graduate or GED
  • Valid Oklahoma Class "D" Driver License
    • Required to obtain a Commercial Driver's License-Class A or Commercial Driver's License-Class B within six (6) months of hire.
  • Knowledge of relevant city, state, and federal laws, regulations, and policies
  • Knowledge of hazards and safety regulations relevant to the department
  • Knowledge of equipment, materials, methods, and procedures used in maintenance, construction, and repair activities
  • Knowledge of city infrastructure
  • Skill in the operation of light and heavy construction equipment
  • Skill in oral and written communication
