3rd Shift Production Supervisor
Summary
The 3rd Shift Production Supervisor manages the day-to-day production floor logistics of the hourly manufacturing employees in accordance with company policy, and product quality standards. This individual is expected to utilize labor hours efficiently and minimize non-value-added activity; Be an agent of change. The Supervisor is responsible to identify and resolve production-related problems by working closely with the direct labor workforce and personnel support groups. The Supervisor will be an integral part of the Production Team, which will require him/her to work alongside the production personnel on the line, to ensure our revenue site plan is met.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Leads hourly production personnel.
- Oversees all operations in the department to maximize capacity and efficiency.
- Promotes and enforce safety policies and procedures (both company and regulatory) to decrease the potential for team member injuries.
- Maintains a safe and clean work environment by directing and educating team members on best practices.
- Ensures product is built to scheduled customer ship dates.
- Evaluates each stage of the manufacturing process to ensure maximum efficiency.
- Supports Manufacturing Engineering and Quality Engineering in the training of the hourly operators.
- Resolves personnel problems by analyzing data; investigating issues; identifying solutions; recommending actions.
- Communicates and enforce company policies and initiate disciplinary actions as required.
- Coach and discipline employees who fall short of job expectations, as appropriate.
- Evaluates labor requirements and work with management to assure proper staffing levels.
- Investigates and report information to provide realistic schedules to Planning and Customer Service.
- Makes recommendations for new equipment, process changes, shift suggestions, overtime, etc.
- Monitors and drive the production floor to execute to schedule requirements through ERP schedules or established Pull System.
- Resolves material shortages by working with materials management and Production Planners.
- Drives Continuous Improvement by implementing visual management tools for metrics and scheduling, organizing areas for smooth flow (5S, layouts, bins, FIFO principles, Gemba walks).
- Assists in recruiting and selecting new team members.
- Provides coaching and development to team members.
- Provides production data and reports as required by Manager.
- Conducts daily Gemba stand-up meetings and provides support as needed.
- Performs manufacturing process operations on the line, as required, to meet or exceed the company business needs.
- Flexibility to work 1st or 2nd Shift hours.
- Performs other tasks as assigned by manager.
Job Requirements
- B.S. Degree in Industrial Engineering and/or equivalent experience.
- 7+ years in a manufacturing environment, preferably in Military and Aerospace Industries.
- Leadership experience preferred.
- Excellent management and interpersonal skills
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Excellent computer skills. Proficient in Microsoft Office suite applications.
- Experience with Lean Manufacturing preferred.
- Able to work in a fast-paced environment, multi-task and adapt to changing priorities.
- Interact well and coach team members.
- Lead by example.
- Knowledge of production processes and equipment.
- Highly organized.
- Ability to read and interpret manufacturing instructions and engineering drawings.
- Bilingual English/Spanish highly desirable.
