Business Development Manager - ATS Specialized, Inc.
Opportunity Overview:
The Business Development Manager (BDM) will be responsible for new business generation and existing customer management in accordance with ATS Specialized and ATS Heavy Haul asset fleet needs. They will identify Specialized and Heavy Haul prospects either organically or from our inactive/existing customer base, solicit, and close new opportunities. They work closely with our customer service and operations teams to ensure that both customer and ATS fleet needs are met. This position could be assigned to a specific region, industry, or customer base to target on either a temporary or ongoing basis.
Scope of the Role:
- Conduct strategic planning efforts to achieve sales results in support of department goals.
- Collaborate with the planning and operations team to ensure customer needs are met.
- Use a consultative sales approach to build long-term relationships with customers and utilize product and service knowledge to articulate ATS's value proposition.
- Close new business and meet new customer generation goals while maintaining current accounts.
- Negotiate and quote rates with customers, entering and recording all terms and conditions of shipment agreements.
- Onboard new customers into ATS systems to ensure a seamless transition.
- Work with the Manager and Pricing team on requests for proposals and the bidding process to create a win-win for both ATS and the customer.
- Generate leads and customers for all areas of ATS Specialized and pass leads on to other areas within ATS as necessary.
- Speak clearly and persuasively in positive or negative situations; listen and get clarification; respond effectively to questions; write clearly and informatively.
- Assist with developing and maintaining productive relationships with internal customers and colleagues.
- Balance team and individual responsibilities and contribute to building a positive team spirit.
- Serves as a role model and demonstrates, by their actions, ATS's Mission, Vision, and Values in a consistent, effective, and reliable manner.

- Complete work responsibilities outside of normal business hours as needed and infrequent travel may be required.

Preferred Skillset for Success:
- Higher education (i.e. two- or four-year degree) in Business or Communications or a related field preferred, or equivalent combinations of education and experience in a customer-driven environment.
- Two or more years(s) of experience in Specialized or Heavy Haul transportation preferred
- A firm understanding of marketing, sales, and customer service principles.
- Self-starter with a strong entrepreneurial spirit.
- Strong problem-solving and analytic skills with a metrics and results-driven approach.
- Excellent organizational skills and ability to manage and prioritize workload in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong interpersonal skills; able to establish trust and rapport with all levels of staff. Able to relate effectively to diverse cultures.
- Must be able to think creatively and provide creative contributions to projects.
- Must be self-motivated, able to multi-task, and work independently.
- Must be able to maintain a high level of confidentiality.

- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and Outlook) required.
- Excellent communication skills (written, listening, and verbal).
- Willing and able to travel up to 10% of time
Compensation & Benefits
- The base salary range for this position is $70,000 to $105,000 plus position specific, performance-based incentive program. First year incentive earnings include the greater of a 10-month training incentive of $2,500/month ($25,000) or actual incentives earned. Base salary offered is determined by relevant experience, education, certifications, and geographic location as compared to others doing substantially similar work.
