Quality Engineer

Position: Quality Engineer

Location: Valley Green, PA

Position summary:  

Provide quality leadership and support to the Operations area in achieving Quality objectives and effective problem resolution. Identify and lead continuous improvement initiatives, contributing to business growth and cost reduction. Ensure customer satisfaction through responsive complaint resolution, including root cause analyses and implementing corrective and preventive actions.

Conduct internal auditing in support of ISO 9001 certification. 

Position responsibilities:

  • Develop, implement and maintain quality planning of components and products.
  • Provide technical support to the organization for implementation of process control techniques, methods and quality methodologies.
  • Manage and report quality performance indices, including process capabilities, cost of quality and outgoing quality levels. 
  • Lead investigation of customer complaints and/or concerns, implementing solutions with internal functions, suppliers and other Company sites, as necessary.
  • Perform regular and routine auditing to ensure compliance to requirements of the quality management system and the processes.

Essential skills: 

  • Effective use of APQP methodologies, including MSA, FMEA, SPC, etc.
  • Ability to effectively investigate and resolve problems, including use of 8D Problem Solving, Ishikawa Fishbone, and 5-Why methodologies.
  • Effective use of problem prevention tools, including Quality Planning, Poka Yoke, D-FMEA, P-FMEA, SPC, MSA, etc.
  • Basic SPC knowledge, including X-Bar/R Charting, Cp/Cpk, R&R, etc.
  • Internal auditing skills.
  • Effective communication skills with all levels of the organization.
  • Able to travel, domestically and internationally, when required.

Reporting to this position:

  • This job has no supervisory responsibilities.

Physical demands and work environment:

  • Lifting requirements of Operations area, as defined.

 Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

  • This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Travel

  • Minimal travel is expected for this position.

Personal Protective Equipment:

  • Safety glasses are required in some areas of the production floor
  • Other personal protective equipment is required on specific jobs

Required Education and Training:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in technical field
  • 5+ years’ experience in Quality Assurance is preferred
  • 5+ years’ experience in production environment is required
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in connector / electronics manufacturing (not required, desired)
  • Familiarity with Quality Management Systems standards (e.g. ISO 9001, TS 16949, etc)
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office
  • Own decisions and take responsibility for outcomes
  • ASQ Certified Quality Engineer is preferred
  • ASQ Certified Quality Auditor is a bonus

Work Authorization/Security Clearance

  • American citizen or Permanent  Resident Card
