Job Title: Intern Design Engineer
Reports to: Engineering Manager
Location: Downers Grove, IL
Job Purpose
To provide engineering support for improving the manufacturing process for cable assemblies. To assist with identifying causes of production problems and work to improve quality. Responsible for various primary and secondary engineering projects involving design of cable assemblies and other value-added products.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Utilize necessary software tools (i.e., SolidWorks, AutoCAD, etc) in design, development and documentation.
- Work closely with the engineering team to update and release part/assembly 3D models in system
- Design and evaluate new products, within the scope of sales and marketing objectives.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
- Works effectively with the Product Management and the Quality departments to support continuous improvement, corrective actions, and ensure company processes are in line with ISO 9001.
- Ensures all engineering projects, initiatives, processes and completions are all in conformance with the company established policies, procedures and objectives and done in a timely manner.
- Effectively and efficiently communicates verbally and in writing with customers, all levels of the organization, within and outside of the U.S.
Qualifications and Requirements
- Recent degree or current enrollment in a Mechanical Engineering major or similar
- Willingness to learn new skills.
- Strong organization and communication skills.
- Experience with SolidWorks, AutoCAD, and dimensions/tolerances is required.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office and Windows Desktop, etc.
- Ability to work without supervision consistently performing duties to company standards.

Working Conditions
80% of the time sitting; 20% of the time standing or walking. Domestic and international travel are unlikely, but may be required based on company needs. Must be open to occasional evening work/weekends.
