Advanced Manufacturing Engineer

 

SUMMARY

The Advanced Manufacturing Engineer is responsible for research, design and development of manufacturing technologies to provide Micro-Coax with advanced capability to meet Safety, Quality, Delivery and Cost targets. 

 

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Plan/Design/Procure capital equipment for purchase or internal development related to manufacturing automation and supporting processes. Develop justifications and complete ACE (Approval for Capital Expense) for purchase
  • Participate in Continuous Improvement Projects to improve manufacturing capabilities and/or reduce costs through improved manufacturing techniques, tooling or automation
  • Research, tests, and implements new technologies to improve on SQDC targets for plant and provide factory with superior capabilities
  • Work with other Engineering groups (Process, Design, Product) and other functions to ensure systems and programs are meeting intended specifications 
  • Troubleshoot issues as related to tooling, software and automation systems
  • Lead and/or coordinate design reviews
  • Complete DQ/IQ/OQ/PQ process as required for qualification of new machinery and/or systems
  • Design Tooling and equipment using Solidworks CAD Software as well as manage and operates 3D printing technology
  • Develop software and controls systems using various programming languages, Labview, Visual Basic, etc.

EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical, Industrial or Electrical Engineering
  • Previous Engineering co-op experience in an applicable field
  • Manufacturing experience in a custom, make to order environment is preferred
  • Strong understanding of Tooling, Automation, Software and/or Controls Design and implementation

 

LANGUAGE REQUIREMENTS

  • Ability to read, write, speak and understand English

 

JOB SKILLS

  • Excellent oral and written communications skills
  • CAD Skills using Solidworks Modelling Software
  • Strong skills in high level programming language (C++, Labview, Java, VB.net)
  • Experience, knowledge of SQL based data structures or queries
  • Proficient in automation systems, programming PLCs, HMIs, and configuring drives
  • Able to lead, participate in, collaborate and advise cross functional project teams
  • Ability to explain complex operations and methods clearly and concisely to other team members, suppliers and customers
  • Accepts responsibility for own actions, accountable for project deliverables and goals
  • Once trained, able to complete day to day tasks with little supervision, but may require guidance and oversight on more complex projects

 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

As part of their job duties, the employee must be able to sit, stand, and walk throughout the day while frequently using their hands to handle objects and communicate verbally. Additionally, they may need to reach, stretch, push, pull, crouch, stoop, and occasionally lift objects weighing up to fifty (50) pounds. This role requires specific vision abilities, including close, distance, color, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.   • ASTM F–2412–2005, ANSI Z41–1999, or ANSI Z41–1991 rated safety toe shoes in specific areas
  • Clear ANSI Z87.1 safety-rated glasses in specific areas
  • Hearing protection in specific locations
  • Ability to compile with JSA in specific areas

TRAVEL

Approximately <10% of travel is expected
