Academic Coordinator, Nurse Practitioner Program

Athabasca University's Faculty of Health Disciplines is currently recruiting for 2 part-time term Academic Coordinator positions (one at 0.5FTE and one at 0.7FTE) in our Nurse Practitioner program.

Both term positions end April 30, 2026.

The Positions:
Reporting through the Program Director, Nurse Practitioner Program, to the Dean, the Academic Coordinator has two key areas of responsibility. They include:

Service to the Community: Participation in the life of Athabasca University and the community of which it is a part.

Teaching and Learning: The faculty member will be responsible for developing, teaching and evaluating graduate courses in the NP Program.

Qualifications:

  • The ideal candidate must hold a minimum of a Masters degree in nursing or a related field, with doctoral preparation preferred.
  • Active registration in Alberta as a licensed RN in good standing is required (licensed NP preferred) and must be instated no later than the employment start date and must be actively maintained as an ongoing condition of employment.
  • The ideal candidate has teaching experience and at least 5 years of clinical experience.
  • The ideal candidate is committed to growing their skills, learning, and contributing across service, and teaching. They are an innovative and reflective educator who has experience in an online learning environment.
  • They have experience or potential to lead and work respectfully and effectively as part of larger teams.
  • The candidate of choice will respect and thrive in a collegial and interdisciplinary culture. They will work towards inclusivity, transparency, and continuous improvement, having the ability and desire to adapt and respond to shifting and unexpected changes.
