Lead Metrology Engineer

The Role

Amphenol Aerospace Operations is seeking a Lead Metrology Engineer to work out of its brand new, state-of-the-art facility in Mesa, AZ.

The key responsibilities of a Lead Metrology Engineer include, but are not limited to:

  • Be the first line of supervision and Subject Matter Expert for the Metrology Team.
  • Oversee the development and implementation AOI and CMM programs specific to measurements needed for product acceptance
  • Document and maintain measurement work instructions for operators using this equipment
  • Seek contemporary expansion of technology/equipment for improved metrology
  • Obtain regular professional training relative to programming packages for current software packages
  • Own the MSA portion of APQP (Advance Product Quality Plan)
  • Coordinate with process engineers and supervision for the acceptance of new CNCs and the bi-yearly capability studies that are conducted on them
  • Validate process improvements as required by Engineering

The Person

The key skills and qualities of a Lead Metrology Engineer at Amphenol Aerospace Operations:

  • BS degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent engineering degree
  • At least 3 years leading a small team in a manufacturing experience working in metrology environment
  • Experience with: Nikon measurement microscope, Keyence, Mitutoyo CMM/Optical System with vision pack software preferred
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and Minitab
  • Comfortable with GD&T / Blueprint interpretation
  • 3D modeling software experience: Creo/Pro-E preferred
  • Minitab, Microsoft Office, 5S, 6 Sigma and Lean Manufacturing
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Competencies of data structures
  • Calibration Lab Management, ISO/IEC 17025, Z540, etc.

Salary Range

$90,000 - $95,000 / year DOE
