Associate City Attorney

As our Associate City Attorney, you'll be at the heart of our city's contract management process.
What You'll Do:
- Provide legal research, analysis, and recommendations to support the City Attorney and City departments
- Assist in drafting, reviewing, and interpreting ordinances, contracts, resolutions, leases, and other legal documents.
- Represent the City in municipal court proceedings and administrative hearings if requested
- Support the City Attorney in civil litigation by preparing legal documents, motions, and case strategies.
- Respond to public records requests and assist with risk management and compliance matters.
- Prepares the legal review of contracts, deeds, leases, ordinances, resolutions, rules and regulations, and other routine legal instruments; renders opinions relative to substance, form, and propriety of such documents with respect to the City's best interests.

Requirements:
- Graduation from a law school accredited by the American Bar Association is required.
- Ten years of combined experience, practicing law in the public or private sectors is required.
- Evidence of passing the Missouri State Bar Examination is required.
- A valid, current license to practice law in the State of Missouri, where maintaining such licensure is a condition of employment as the City Attorney for the City of Branson is required.

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS: The starting hourly wage is $140,000 Annually

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING
- Three (3) to five (5) years of experience in criminal law, business law, tax law, employment law or real estate law is preferred.
MISCELLANEOUS REQUIREMENTS
- Must have outstanding customer service skills, taking into consideration most individuals limited understanding of legal processes and procedures.
- Must possess strong analytical and logical problem-solving skills, strong interpersonal communication and relational skills, good organizational, project management skills, sound judgment, initiative, flexibility, and be detail oriented.
- Must be highly engaged in the department's goals and be able to work cooperatively with the Mayor, the Board of Aldermen, and the City Administrator in achieving those goals.
- Must possess a high degree of integrity, strong work ethic and ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Must be insurable under the City of Branson's motor vehicle coverage when operating a vehicle as a part of the position
- Must be able to pass a background investigation and drug and alcohol screenings.
WORK HOURS: Monday through Friday, 8:00 am to 4:30 pm; Occasional After hours needed
WORK LOCATION: City of Branson, Missouri; City Hall. This is an in office position requiring work to be performed onsite.
