Production Technician

Position Summary: The Production Technician is responsible for preparing all current manufacturers lines of new and refurbishing used copier, printer and/or fax equipment.  Assures that accurate records are maintained, timely coordination, follow up and communication are accomplished on all work orders. Complete scheduled manufacturer trainings and self-paced trainings with satisfactory results to achieve manufacturer certification on the equipment.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

All areas of responsibility listed below are essential to the satisfactory performance of this position, with reasonable accommodation, if necessary.  Any non-essential functions are assumed to be included in "other related duties as assigned":

  • Responsible for preparing all current manufactures lines of new and refurbished equipment as determined via the production schedule or manager.
  • Maintain a neat work area.
  • Complete equipment preparation in the time allotted via the production schedule.
  • Advise appropriate internal clients (sales, delivery, field service and training) of any potential delivery delays resulting during a set-up.
  • Complete work orders/service log and service checklist upon a completion of a set-up to ensure order is complete. This includes manuals, toner, etc.
  • Move product from warehouse to production floor on an as needed basis, and after set-up, shrink wrap along with attaching a copy of the order and checklist to said equipment and transfer product to pending delivery area.
  • Maintain accurate record keeping system.
  • Reconcile personal inventory monthly to keep accurate inventory counts.
  • Resolve data/configuration problems on work orders.
  • Maintain complete and accurate files for areas of responsibilities.
  • Contribute to department reports as necessary.
  • General Duties:
    • Assist with pulling parts for field technicians and any other assigned duties as necessary.
    • Complete assigned trainings and achieve certification on currently serviced models.
  • Other related duties as assigned.

 

Qualifications/Requirements:  

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. 

  • Electronic/Mechanical Knowledge: Must have at least basic knowledge of electrical and mechanical fundamentals and be able to read schematics and timing charts. This would include electrical flow and knowing how motors, clutches, sensors, power supplies and control boards work and are affected by each other. Must be able to analyze problems and formulate troubleshooting methods to mechanical part or board levels.
  • Language Skills: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients and field engineers.

 

Education/Experience:

One of the following is considered acceptable:

  • Associate degree in electronics.
  • Armed forces training in electronics.
  • Vocational electronics/electro-mechanical training program.
  • Previous office equipment repair experience.
