Qualifications:Minimum of 10 year(s) of experience in Inventory, evaluation, planning, design, analysis, and construction of engineering projects varying in size from smaller individual farm projects to extensive watershed projects. This includes preparation and/or review of design computations, technical specifications, and oversight of various agency programs, including EQIP, CSP, and RCPP. This position will require some skills in hydraulics, hydrology, irrigation, watershed planning, stream stabilization and renovation, soil mechanics, erosion and sediment control, and stormwater mgt. OR BA/BS Degree in Civil Engineering, Agriculture Engineering, or other engineering background. - Valid State Driver?s license; Professional Engineering Registration, extensive demonstrated knowledge of NRCS engineering survey, design, construction, and certification processes.

Duties:The incumbent provides technical and engineering assistance to the Area Engineer, Victorville, Bakersfield, Santa Maria, Oxnard and other nearby field offices in evaluating engineering practices, designing conservation practices, reviewing practice designs, performing construction checks, checkout of practices and assisting engineers and technicians in their implementation of Farm Bill programs across the state. - Advise, mentor, guide, and training to staff on engineering procedures of varying engineering complexity. 40%
- Provides professional engineering services in field investigations (inventory & evaluation), surveying, planning, design, construction, and certification of engineering practices in accordance with agency policy, requirements, and specifications. 60%
Other:- Annual information system security, anti-harassment, and civil rights training at a minimum. Other classes may be required in order to keep the LincPass active and computer access current.
- Travel Requirements: Travel by GOV will be required throughout the state as needed to address workload in multiple field offices. Travel by other means such as flying will not be needed.

- Rental cars: ACES enrollee will coordinate with the local field office to obtain a GOV.
