EHS Supervisor

Dessert Holdings is looking for a EHS Supervisor to join our team based in London, ON. The EHS Supervisor will be responsible for the day-to-day safety initiatives at our London facility. Reporting directly to the Plant Manager, they will be responsible for fostering a culture of safety, promoting safe work practices, and ensuring a safe work environment. Additionally, they will manage and administer the EHS program, with a focus on preventing accidents, injuries, and environmental impacts.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Advises and assists in promoting a safe work environment at the facility.
- Ensures compliance with federal and state/provincial regulations by understanding existing and changing laws and rules, interpreting standards, enforcing adherence, and advising management on needed actions
- Acts as an internal resource for incident investigation using root cause analysis.
- Responsible for keeping records of safety-related incidents and recommendation and administration of corrective measures
- Collaborate by sharing best practices with other DH facilities and supports the execution of initiatives
- Performs safety compliance inspections including hazard analysis & risk assessments,
- Reviews safe work procedures, written reports, and provides recommendations.
- Leads others directly and indirectly to enhance safety culture
- Responsible for implementing and monitoring adherence to the company safety program by all Dessert Holdings employees, visitors, and contractor
- Work collaboratively with all stakeholders to ensure health and safety concerns are addressed and resolved in a timely manner
- Follow-up on open action items, legislative requirements, and support the implementation of corrective actions
- Partners with Human Resources in workers compensation management
- Understands local incident record keeping requirements. Responsible for completing and submitting compliance reports (300, 300A logs, injury reports, etc), where applicable
- Assists in the processing, tracking, recording, and reporting of accident and incident data
- Coordinates the site health and safety committee and ensures compliance, where applicable
- Develop site specific training materials and executes safety training to include legal compliance programs
- Point of contact for on-site security, where applicable
- Other duties related to maintaining a safe work environment as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:
- A minimum of bachelor's degree or technical training in any safety-related field
- A professional designation (e.g., CSP, CRSP) is an asset
- Must have at least 3 years of experience supporting Safety in a manufacturing setting
- Thorough knowledge and understanding of regulations, and occupational health and safety standards (ANSI, etc.)
- Strong communication skills (both verbal and written) to be an effective influencer at all levels and display effective leadership skills
- Proficiency with database applications and administration systems, specifically Microsoft office
- Effective organizational skills
- Must be a HIGHLY MOTIVATED, service and team-oriented individual with an attention to detail effective managing self with little supervision – self driven.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORK ENVIRONMENT:
- Must be able to work in a production environment for extended periods of time, including stooping, standing, bending.
- Use hands and fingers to handle objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms.
- Must be able to stoop, kneel or bend.
- Employee must lift up to 50 pounds and is required to ask for assistance if limit is exceeded.
- Must be able to work in a food allergens environment.
- Working environment provides exposure to environmental changes (heat, cold, dampness, and chemicals).
