POSITION SUMMARY:
Under general supervision, responds to emergency and non-emergency requests within the Pala Raceway boundaries, provides Basic Life Support (BLS) as needed, and may transport sick or injured persons to the appropriate location for transporting agency and complies with appropriate state department of health standards. Protects life and property endangered by fire or other hazards; participants in fire prevention inspections of raceway facilities and training activities, and assists in maintenance of First Aid station and equipment.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Responds to emergencies within the Pala Raceway boundaries in a timely manner.
- Meet the required response times
- Represent the company by being courteous, professional and a patient advocate.
- Operate and drive a squad with regard to state and company safety policies.
- Monitor communication equipment to maintain contact with the Communication Center and Pala Raceway management.
- Comply with all protocols for treatment and transportation of the sick and injured as defined by the company, local, and regional medical control.
- Maintain and replenish vehicle, equipment, and supplies as needed.
- Administer Basic Life Support, and assist in rescue.
- Operate two-way radio equipment to current standards.
- Clean, inspect, and test equipment carried on rescue squad and in the first aid facility.
- Participate in fire prevention inspections, hydrant maintenance, and service.
- Participate in building and grounds maintenance.
- Perform other duties as assigned including those specific to the local operation and related work as required.
- Maintain a clean, professional appearance while maintaining a courteous, professional and ethical behavior while working cooperatively with other members of the health care system, co-workers, and the public.
- Regular attendance consistent with scheduled hours. Willing to work overtime as needed.
- Uses care and respect with all equipment and supplies.
- Ability to accurately map route to a designation.
- Practice within your certification skill set.
- Provide general medical care and treatment to patients in both emergent and non-emergent settings as defined by state and local regulatory agencies.
- Neatly and accurately, document pertinent information on all required forms/documents. (Patient care records, supplies, Medicare signature forms, and PCS forms)
- Turn in appropriate documents prior to leaving duty.
- Maintain a safe and healthy workplace in accordance with all appropriate OSHA standards, company policies and local standard operating procedures.
- Attend all company required OSHA training, annual training, all mandatory company updates and complete the training in the allotted time the company sets.
- Watch the track to look for accidents.
- Assist with flagging and other track maintenance during downtime.
- Perform other raceway duties as assigned during downtime.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSE AND ABILITIES:
- Know the use and care of a fire extinguisher.
- Ability to operate motor-driven equipment.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills
- Ability to work cooperatively with other employees and medical agencies to provide the highest level of patient care.
- Ability to read and interpret all required documents and write required reports and correspondence.
- Knowledge of OSHA standards, company policies, and local standard operating procedures.
- Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with those contacted in the course of work.
- Ensure that all required Certifications are current and remain current.
- Maintain knowledge about the job and medical field
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- High School Diploma or equivalent and combination of training, education, and experience, which demonstrates possession of the knowledge and abilities stated above and the ability to perform the duties of the position.
- Current National Registry EMT license
- Current San Diego County EMT certification
- Current CPR certification card
- Other qualifications/certifications specific to the local operation and/or contract requirements.
- Must have a valid California Driver's License in good standing.
- Must pass background check.
- Must acknowledge and agree to maintain a Drug-Free workplace (including marijuana) as a condition of employment with the Pala Band of Mission Indians.
- Indian Preference applies.
OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
All employees are expected to follow the Tribal Personnel Policies and Procedures of the Pala Band of Mission Indians and must adhere to any additional applicable addenda.
Physical Conditions: Essential and marginal functions require maintaining physical conditions necessary for arduous work and frequent bending, turning, reaching, grasping, kneeling, standing, sitting, and walking; and moderate to heavy pushing, pulling, lifting and carrying.
