The Senior Environmental Employment (SEE) Program offers unique opportunities in Scientific, Technical, and Administrative/Office support for individuals age 55 and over and per EPA Policy applicants must be US Citizen to support the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) through a grant administered program through National Experienced Workforce Solutions (NEW Solutions). This is a unique program where your talents, expertise and experience will truly be valued. The EPA provides a wonderful work atmosphere, and you'll be working side-by-side with EPA staff that are doing important work every day. Qualifications:

Minimum of 5 year(s) of experience in Computer literacy, program development, administrative support OR BA/BS Degree in Computer science or business administration

  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment and possess skills in problem-solving and conflict management highly desirable
  • Experience required with Windows, MS Word, MS Excel, MS Access, MS SharePoint, MS Teams, MS Outlook, Fax, Copying Machine

Duties:

Provide assistance and recommendations to the Drinking Water Program on technical and database-related assignments. Provide technical assistance to Program Drinking Water Rule Managers and Team Leads with on- going strategic support for direct implementation activities and relevant data.

  • Provide advice, recommendations, and training (as needed) in the maintenance of Safe Drinking Water Information System (SDWIS) database. This includes, but is not limited to, developing and initiating various data queries to analyze monitoring data and evaluate the compliance of public water systems (PWSs) with National Primary Drinking Water Regulations; maintaining current PWS operator/utility manager/outside entity contact list; and SDWIS data maintenance. Additionally, develop VB scripts to automate MS Outlook emails, File attachments and to manage Windows Files and Folders. Create and utilize Excel macros for data manipulation, and design and execute SQL queries in MS Access, Oracle, and Microsoft SQL Server   40%
  • Provide other technical assistance, training, development of strategies, and advise as required by the Drinking Water Program   30%
  • Develop and maintain drinking water online and drinking water watch websites to provide technical assistance and outreach for drinking water operators and other stakeholders.   15%
  • Advise Rule Managers in strategies to notify PWSs of monitoring requirements through reminder cards, phone calls, faxes, emails and other means.   15%

  • Various on-going software/computer training as needed; sanitary survey training and associated report writing; SDWIS state
  • Travel Requirements: Travel to attend DMUC (Data Managers conference for EPA and states)
  • Overnight travel: Once per year, 4 nights
  • Air travel anticipated: Only to attend DMUC Conference
