Street Technician
Job Summary:
Under direct supervision, performs manual labor to maintain and make repairs to public right-of ways and properties. In addition to using manual hand tools, may be required to operate some equipment and small machinery.
Major Responsibilities:
- Constructs and/or repairs streets, alleys, and sidewalks made of asphalt or concrete
- Constructs and/or repairs storm sewers, catch basins
- Maintains right-of-ways
- Sprays pesticides and herbicides
- Trims trees using a bucket truck
- Removes brush
- Mows and brush hogs
- Trims grass using a weed eater
- Performs other duties as assigned, including assisting other departments as required.
Minimum Qualifications & Required Knowledge:
- High school graduate or GED
- Valid Oklahoma Class “D” Driver License
- Required to obtain a Commercial Driver’s License-Class A or Commercial Driver’s License-Class B within six (6) months of hire.
- Knowledge of relevant city, state, and federal laws, regulations, and policies
- Knowledge of hazards and safety regulations relevant to the department
- Knowledge of equipment, materials, methods, and procedures used in maintenance, construction, and repair activities
- Knowledge of city infrastructure
- Skill in the operation of light and heavy construction equipment
- Skill in oral and written communication
