Yard/Office Shipping Worker

The Opportunity:

PTW is looking for a Yard/Office Shipper to work in our busy structural steel fabrication shop in Calgary! This is a full-time permanent position, with lots of opportunities for overtime. If you have previous supervisory or lead hand experience, and thrive in a diverse work environment, we want to hear from you!  

 

 A Day in the Life... 

• Responsible for coordinating shipping operations and preparing/managing associated documentation, including invoices, BOL, and carrier reports
• Coordinates carrier pick up and oversees delivery schedules
• Assists in submittng requisitions for supplies and materials through the company's supply chain management system.
• Assists in scheduling routine maintenance on all shipping and receiving equipment, including forklifts and trailers.
• Based on order specifications, picks and packages products for shipment.
• Inspects incoming shipments to ensure accuracy; inspects for damaged goods. Unloads and receives parts, finished goods, and returned goods.
• Performs cycle counts and physical inventory counts.
• Maintains forklift and other material handling devices in a safe and efficient manner.
• Maintains files of receiving documents, material return slips, and any WHMIS documents related to products or materials processed through the receiving area
• Reports all non-conforming material to the department Supervisor.

 

Requirements:

• Possess 3-5 years of relevant work experience in a similar supervisory role
• Excellent English communication skills.
• Strong MS Office skills
• Willing to work overtime as required 
• Experience with using and driving a forklift.
• Experienced with proper rigging and overhead crane use.
• Must be reliable and dependable (i.e.: punctual and ready to work).
• Must be able to take initiative, work independently as well as within a diverse team. 

 

Other Requirements:

• Must have CSA approved safety boots.
• Forklift & Crane certification is an asset
• WHMIS certification an asset
• Must be able to manually lift up to 50lbs
• Must have own transportation as location is not accessible with public transportation
