PTW is hiring Structural Steel Fitter's and/or Metal Fabricators for work in our Calgary fabrication facility. If you are available, we want to hear from you!
GOOD TO KNOW
- Monday-Friday shift with opportunities to work weekends for extra overtime

A DAY IN THE LIFE…
- Studies engineering drawings and blueprints, determines the required materials and plans the sequence of tasks to cut metal most efficiently.
- Fits up fabrication assembly to welding stage
- Set up and operate various heavy duty metal-working machines, such as cutting torches, grinders, drills, and punch.
- Prepares materials prior to assembly
- Lays out reference points and patterns on heavy metal according to component specifications
- Rigs, hoists, and moves materials to storage areas or within worksites
- Installs fabricated components in final product.
- Completes quick precision layout of assembly.
- Operates manual or semi-automatic welding equipment to fuse metal segments using processes such as flux-cored arc welding (FCAW), shielded metal arc welding (SMAW).
- Removes welds using the Air Arc Gouging process.
- Completes assigned work within given timeframe and according to specifications.
- Accurately completes time sheets, weight sheets, hazard analysis sheets etc.
- Operates manual flame-cutting equipment..
- Completes housekeeping duties in assigned area or project area on a daily basis and/or when required.
EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
- One year of work experience in the trade required. Some college or industry courses in welding are considered an asset.
- Interprovincial trade certification (Red Seal) an asset.
- Possesses a solid understanding of welding symbols.
- Ensures all required CWB qualifications are current.
- Experienced in creating left hand assembly from right hand views
- Possesses the ability to read both Metric and Imperial measurements.
- Possesses proper rigging and overhead crane skills.
- Experienced with material handling of fragile tack assemblies (long loads and tight turns)
- Possesses solid understanding of welding equipment and welding accessories.
OTHER REQUIREMENTS
- Must have own transportation as location is not accessible with public transportation.
- Premium for night shift
- Must supply basic hand tools.
- Must have CSA approved steel-toed boots
- Overhead Crane certification is an asset.
