SUMMARY: The position oversees all Total Quality Management functions and associated personnel related to quality assurance/control, food safety, and quality systems for the company’s beverage base blending/packaging facility located in Bartow, FL. Reporting to the Vice President of Technical Services and Site General Manager, the position develops and drives the facility’s total quality management strategy with policies, programs, and initiatives.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Directs the organization to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, customer expectations, and audits.
• Leads cross functional teams to study and develop effective tools, methods, and systems to ensure that the products and services are of the highest quality.
• Creates standards used to measure quality results and to drive continuous improvements.
• Delivers quality, food safety, and sanitation programs that operate effectively per procedures, and utilizes analytical data to evaluate patterns and trends.
• Ensures laboratories and associated personnel, performance (training, development, and execution), and expenses meet/exceed leadership expectation.
• Oversees Quality Systems team and processes that deliver compliance towards GFSI certification (currently FSSC 22000 and ISO9001).
• Ensures products and protocols satisfy requirements of certification programs (Kosher, Organic).
• Champions site HACCP and Food Safety programs (plan management, employee training, continuous improvement, corrective action).
• Ensure compliance with company, local, state and federal guidelines/regulations, functioning as a quality and food safety advisor on projects and day-to-day plant operations and managing regulatory and third-party audits.
• Enhance digitalization and process efficiency initiatives by leveraging tools like InfinityQS to strengthen process control, traceability, and operational efficiency across all lines.
• Ensure successful execution of validation runs on fully commissioned production lines according to protocols provided by TCCC, with the objective of achieving CIP frequencies of up to 72 hours per line. Oversee collection and submission of comprehensive data to TCCC for review and approval.
• Manages site regulatory compliance, including 21 CFR Part 120, Part 117, etc.
• Oversees customer complaint process (including metrics, root cause analysis and corrective actions effectiveness).
• Performs other related duties as assigned by management.
QUALIFICATIONS:
• B.S. degree in Microbiology, Chemistry, Food Science, Engineering or similar biological sciences.
• 10 years related management experience (food/beverage manufacturing) or equivalent.
• Demonstrated application of Juice HACCP, GMPs, SSOPs and government/industry food safety and quality regulations, codes, and standards.
• Thorough understanding and work experience with Organic and GFSI programs.
• Demonstrated leadership, business acumen, and interpersonal skills.
• Proven ability to handle multiple projects and meet deadlines.
• Demonstrated proficiency in supervising and motivating coworkers and others in line positions.
• Good judgement with the ability to make timely and sound decisions.
• Comfortable and capable seeing the big picture; able to think conceptually and strategically, yet deliver measurable results as a “hands-on” contributor.
