Senior Cabinet Maker

 

POSITION SUMMARY: The Senior Cabinet Maker reads and interprets architectural drawings, sketches and renderings of wood fixtures, cabinetry, furniture and moldings. This role constructs listed items with minimal supervision. 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Generates a bill of materials from architectural drawings then safely construct woodworking items using the following tools and machinery: table saw, shaper, planer, band saw, jointer, miter saw, routers, drill press, panel saw, panel router and other small tools.
• Measures, marks and cuts hardwood and softwood lumber, panel products, including fiberboard and plywood, decorative laminates and solid surface materials.
•   Obtains a working knowledge of safe and proper procedures of woodworking in accordance with local, state and OSHA requirements.
• Performs daily cleaning and maintains work area in a clutter free manner.
•  Provides instruction to Assistant Cabinetmakers on proper and safe procedures of wood cabinet, furniture and fixture construction.
• ALL OTHER DUTIES AS ASSIGNED

EXPERIENCE/QUALIFICATIONS:

• Minimum Degree Required:    High School Diploma or Equivalent
• Preferred Degree:  N/A
• Certificate(s) or License(s): N/A
• Years of experience:  10 years’ experience with cabinet fabrication and 5 years’ experience working without supervision

 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITY:

• Ability to build from CAD drawings
• Familiarity with commonly used wood working machinery including shapers, planers, sanders, joiners, panel saws, panel routers, edge banders, etc.
• Ability to work well with others in a fast-paced environment.

INDEPENDENT JUDGEMENT: Performs tasks and duties under general supervision, using established procedures and innovation. Chooses from limited alternatives to resolve problems. Occasional independent judgment is required to complete work assignments. Often makes recommendations to work procedures, policies, and practices.
