Materials Supervisor
The Materials Supervisor leads the Materials team at the Grand Rapids facility. The Materials Supervisor is responsible for inventory, material storage, receiving materials, material delivery to the point of use in the facility, and shipping material. The Materials Supervisor is also responsible for moving materials efficiently within the facility.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Supervises the Materials team members. Leads the department.
- Trains, supports and develops direct reports to ensure expected job performance.
- Is the point of contact at the Grand Rapids facility for all materials shipped to and scheduled for production.
- Communicates regularly with the Purchasing, Programs and Planning teams to ensure customer requirements are met.
- Ensures that schedules, stagings, and stock checks are performed per Planning Department requirements.
- Is responsible to ensure all materials shipped from the Grand Rapids facility are shipped on time and correct.
- Communicates regularly with Materials team at the Nogales facility to coordinate shipments between the facilities.
- Ensures that ABT complies with all customs requirements for north and south bound shipments to Nogales.
- Ensures that regular cycle counts are performed and inventory is correct.
- Ensures all products received are inspected and correct.
- Ensures all products shipped meet appropriate packaging requirements to ensure undamaged shipments.
- Ensures that requisitions for material shortages, damaged components and test repairs are completed in a timely manner.
- Evaluates labor requirements and works with the Operations Supervisor to assure proper staffing levels.
- Recommends and implements solutions for capacity bottlenecks.
- Supports expediting material throughout the facility as required.
- Performs other tasks as assigned by Manager.
Job Requirements
- Degree in Logistics, Material Management or Supply Chain Management preferred
- Minimum 3 years Materials experience, including Inventory Management experience
- Experience with Shipping and Customs
- Minimum 3 years leadership experience in a manufacturing environment
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Excellent organizational skills
- Excellent computer skills. Proficient in Microsoft Office applications
- Experience with Lean manufacturing
- Ability to occasionally lift up to 50 pounds
