Lab Chemist/MFG Chamber Operation

Position: Lab Chemist/MFG Chamber Operation

Location:  Etters, PA

Summary:

This position selects test methods, provides training in the use of these methods, analyzes and reports data and conclusions, establishes analytical test criteria and procedures.  This person must be familiar with Chemistry and connector technology and testing; must be good with their hands and able to perform hands-on equipment repair.  The position entails interfacing with both internal and external customers to discuss testing/analysis requirements and to communicate results and conclusions.  This role will interface closely with other laboratory personnel to verify the proper methods and techniques are used, to verify the quality of the data, and to provide written reports of their work.

Main Duties:

Chemist

  • Perform resin/polymer analyses using Capillary Rheometer, DSC, FTIR, TGA, and TMA equipment.
  • Moisture absorbance of polymers
  • Maintain Lab polymer library
  • Contact Porosity tests: Nitric Acid vapor, Gel, Sulfuric Acid vapor
  • Manage lab chemical inventory and storage
  • Manage water purification systems for the lab.

Mixed Flowing Gas Corrosion Chamber Operation

  • Gas handling, including, ordering, storage, and connecting to MFG chambers
  • Manage gas calibrations and mass flow meters for proper gas concentration in the chambers
  • Chamber/equipment maintenance: gas analyzers, flow meters, permeation tubes, heaters, humidifiers

CT scanner back-up operator

 

Requirements:

  • Minimum BS degree in Chemistry or comparable major
  • 3+ year’s current experience in a similar environment preferred
  • Experience/knowledge of polymer analyses techniques and applicable equipment
  • Experience with electronic and plumbing repairs
  • Advanced trouble shooting skills

Physical Requirements:

  • Sitting, standing, walking, visual acuity, lifting up to 25 pounds.
