Specialized Behavioral Forensic Group Home Director

This is a master's level, licensed-eligible position that is responsible for the oversight of a ten-bed Specialized Behavioral Forensic Group Home. 

 

DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES:

Ensure 24-hour staff coverage of the program.

Provide on-call coverage after normal work hours.

Provide oversight to the Intensive Day Treatment program, ensuring that groups and therapy are provided according to standards.

Ensure that schedules for meals, housekeeping, maintenance, daily activities, and staff coverage are accomplished and followed.

Ensure that residents attend off-site treatment services as required by individual Treatment Plans and assist in providing Basic Living Skills training to Hillside residents and other participants as necessary.

Conduct Intake Assessments and develop Treatment plans for all consumers residing in the home.

Serve as primary case responsible for all consumers in the program. 

Coordinate Residential Director, as well as Community and State agencies to review referrals to the group home.

Ensure that written progress reports to the Court are completed as outlined in each consumer's conditional release.

Update the Court when there are significant changes or developments in the Consumer's progress.

Provide Court testimony regarding consumer progress and discharge plans. 

Complete monitoring reports to the Department of Mental Health as needed for consumers who may be in violation of Conditional Release.

Ensure consumers work towards an appropriate discharge plan that will afford adequate support and follow the terms of any Conditional Release. 

Advocate to the Court for the appropriate, least-restrictive level of care and ensure that the Treatment Plan addresses steps needed to reach the next level of care. 

Monitor and document residents' medication regimens. Monitor residents to ensure medication boxes are refilled as prescribed and that adequate medications are on hand.

Arrange for medical, psychological, and psychiatric appointments as needed, and assure medical maintenance of residents on an on-going basis.

Provide residents with social and training activities.

Assist residents with money management issues. Accomplish and maintain accurate and timely documentation of resident spending, Fee for Services, and rent.

Ensure that adequate food and other supplies required for daily operations of the facility are on hand.

Ensure compliance with the State Department of Mental Health certification requirements and city/county requirements as related to fire, safety, and sanitary conditions.

Responsible for the storage and protection of consumer records housed in the program.

Complete all reports and documentation on a timely basis.

Provide case management services and other services as appropriate and document in the Electronic Health Record.

Arrange for facility maintenance, repairs, and grounds upkeep. Ensure that all vouchers, invoices, and purchase orders are accomplished or processed in a timely manner.

Maintain good working relationships with other community agencies.

Maintain awareness of budgetary matters and coordinate with the immediate supervisor in complying with these matters on a timely basis.

Provide supervision for program staff to ensure effective operations.

Ensure compliance with house rules by residents.

Responsible for ensuring program complies with AL Department of Mental Health and Community Mental Health Standards, Mental Illness Community Service Contract Service Delivery manual, Medicaid Provider Manual and any other applicable state and federal laws or regulations.

Responsible for ensuring the program follows the ADMH approved Program Description.

Responsible for ensuring the program adherence to all Carastar Health Policies and Procedures. 

Responsible for ensuring program staff are current with required training.

Responsible for overseeing program staff's time and productivity.

Responsible for program operating within a defined budget.

Perform related duties as assigned by supervisor.

 

REQUIREMENTS:

Ability to assume the responsibility for the professional, administrative functions of the Hillside Group Home Program and management of the physical facility.

Knowledge of behavioral patterns and problems of the Seriously Mentally Ill.

Knowledge of facility management to include meal planning and preparation, housekeeping, and facility maintenance.

Must demonstrate ability to communicate effectively and interact positively with persons with serious mental illness.

Ability to work with the supervisor in terms of facility management, training programs and other residential needs.

Ability to carry out oral and written instructions.

Basic knowledge of psychotropic drugs concerning their applied use, desirable and undesirable effects.

Ability to prepare and maintain documentation as related to the facility and residents.

Ability and willingness to transport consumers as needed.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

Graduation from a recognized college or university with a master's degree in social work, Counseling, or Psychology plus two years post master's experience providing direct services.

Must be licensed or license eligible.  If license eligible, must have LGSW or ALC credential within three months of hire date. Current licensure status preferred.  

Must meet requirements for Approved Medicaid Provider status.

Must secure and maintain current CPI and Red Cross First Aid/CPR certifications.  

Must pass MAC I and MAC II certification training. 

Must hold a valid driver's license and maintain a driving record that is acceptable to Carastar's insurance carrier.

Must maintain at least liability coverage on personal vehicles.
