Patient Services Representative
Education/Certification: High school diploma or GED required. Must currently hold the ABROE or other certification or obtain upon eligibility. Must have or be able to obtain CPR certification within 6 months.
Experience: Prior experience using computer software, preferably electronic medical records. Prior customer service experience preferred. One year of Medical Office experience strongly preferred.
Essential Job Functions:
- Answers telephone by identifying person answering and assisting callers in a pleasant manner.
- Screening, prioritizing, and returning patient calls according to office procedure.
- Schedules appointments according to office procedure and to patient’s need
- Upon checking in a patient, acquires all necessary information (registration forms, insurance card copies, responsible party’s information, etc.) prior to physician seeing patient.
- Accurately performs data entry on computer system for Billing and posting payment and gathering other necessary information.
- Processes incoming and outgoing mail, records requests, patient documentation, etc. based on office procedure
- Ensure smooth patient flow throughout the office by assisting in other areas when needed or as requested.
- Always maintains patient confidentiality; adheres to all HIPAA guidelines.
- Communicates effectively by telephone and to the patient at his/her level of understanding.
- Promotes positive public relations to patients, visitors, families, physicians, and others.
- Physical appearance and conduct are consistent with acceptable professional ethics and CPC standards.
- Maintains operations by following policies and procedures, reporting needed changes, and making suggestions for improvement.
- Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

- Knowledge of Electronic Medical Records
- Ability to type.
- Ability to identify emergent medical situations.
- Demonstrate positive customer service skills.
- Ability to function in a fast-paced work environment, multi-tasking.
Equipment Operated: Will use basic office equipment such as a computer, printer, copier, and fax machine.
Work Environment: Well-lit medical office environment.
Mental/Physical Requirements:
Must be able to lift at least 10 lbs.
Sitting 75% of the time
Standing/walking 25% of the time
