Engineering Manager, Datacom - Power

Position:        Engineering Manager (Datacom) – Power Solutions

Location:        ETTERS (Harrisburg), PA

 

SUMMARY:

This experienced engineering manager will lead the global Datacom engineering team. This leadership position is responsible for product development, product and process engineering, thermal engineering, and project management. Team members are in USA and China.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Lead a cross-functional engineering team responsible for entire product design cycle.
• Work closely with team to ensure completion of engineering deliverables per defined design process – Design FMEA, Tolerance analysis, Design for Manufacturability, FEA / thermal analysis, and risk analysis.
• Coordinate and lead the completion of 3D product models and drawings.
• Coordinate and lead the completion of Product, Application, and Packaging specifications.
• Coordinate and lead the completion of product verification and product qualification testing.
• Oversee design reviews and report project status to executive management.
• Work with manufacturing teams to develop and establish investment / product cost estimates.
• Work closely with NPI and manufacturing engineering to ensure transition of products to manufacturing.
• Serve as a role model of leadership. Set objectives and select, develop and coach individuals and build a highly motivated and high performing global team.
• ~ 10% travel, as required.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical or Electrical discipline, or similar technical field
• 5+ years of experience in interconnect design and development—preferably with power connectors
• Proven experience as a team lead/manager.
• Working knowledge of 3D CAD software (PTC Creo, Windchill and ANSYS are desirable)
• Working knowledge of manufacturing processes – stamping, plating, molding, assembly
• Working knowledge of IT Datacom architectures and components
• Working knowledge of thermal simulations and thermodynamic principles
• Knowledge of key industry specifications (For example - UL, EIA, IEC, Telcordia)
• Liquid and/or immersion cooling experience is a plus
• Fluent in Mandarin is a plus
