Sr Staff Engineer, Process Manufacturing

The Senior Manufacturing PCBA Process Engineer is responsible for leading and assisting with various technical activities in support of the manufacture of DAS products. The ideal candidate will be located in China, Taiwan or Vietnam. This role requires good communication skills, teamwork, as well as close collaboration with our contract manufacturer, global operations, and global engineering teams to plan, develop, organize, manage and coordinate specific objectives summarized in four primary categories: 

  • Mass Production Support    
  • New Product Introduction (NPI)
  • Design for Manufacture (DFM)
  • New Technology Process Development

How You'll Help Us Connect the World:

  • Ensuring that the Contract Manufacturer’s production processes consistently manufacture products that meet IPC and end-point requirements. 
  • Providing process support for timely resolution of manufacturing issues related to product reliability, workmanship and test yields, component vendor quality, and customer field failures. 
  • Supporting the Contract Manufacturer to ensure quick, innovative, and accurate problem-solving to maintain production and revenue stream. 
  • Assisting the Contract Manufacturer to validate and ensure that standard, special and new manufacturing processes, or procedures are properly qualified to assure successful application to ICN products.
  • Participating in documenting unique or special PCBA end-point requirements for use by the Contract Manufacturer in their assembly process definition and inspection standards.
  • Participating in profit improvement plans (PIPs) through product and process cost reduction efforts for improved manufacturing efficiency, lower costs, and labor reduction.
  • Supporting Contract Manufacturer with ICN NPI prototype builds and product transfers, including process capability assessments, process flow definition, assembly and material requirements, fixture design and related NRE expense reviews, and build participation.
  • Reviewing the Contract Manufacturer’s post build analyses/reports to identify DAS product design improvements and manufacturing process issues; ensure that corrective actions are implemented prior to mass production and assist in determining the success of these actions.
  • Performing First Article Inspections of Contract Manufacturer’s NPI builds and document findings to highlight design and process issues for team to identify corrective actions with owners and then ensuring continuous improvements are realized.
  • Reviewing and contributing Contract Manufacturer’s operations plans to transition from NPI to mass production, including capacity analyses, line qualification, new assembly process implementation, operator training, etc.
  • Supporting the design for Manufacturer (DFM) on DAS products by identifying mass production issues related to product design and effectively communicate these to process engineering and product development teams with the goal of manufacturability improvements through product redesign and application to future products.
  • Contributing to the maintenance of corporate PCBA DFM Standards and assist design teams to properly understand and properly apply in their product designs.
  • Assisting the Contract Manufacturer in the evaluation or development of new or advanced PCBA manufacturing technologies, including special/advanced fixturing, improved soldering processes, improved automation, effective inspection processes, repair/rework technologies, etc. for use on ICN PCBA’s and in support of PIPs.

Required Qualifications for Consideration:

  • Minimum 4-year degree in related technical curriculum
  • 5-10 years of PCBA manufacturing experience
  • Strong verbal & written communications skills, proficient with English, and able to function effectively in a team environment.
  • Must reside in local Hai Phong, Vietnam area so that daily commutes to Contract Manufacturer are possible.
  • Willingness and ability to travel.
