Structural Steel Inventory Coordinator/Material Handler

The Opportunity:

PTW is looking for an Inventory Coordinator/Material Handler to work in our busy structural steel fabrication shop in Calgary! Full-time permanent work, with lots of opportunities for overtime. If you have previous experience working in steel, we want to hear from you! 

 A Day in the Life... 

  • Organizes and maintains inventory areas for efficient material storage and handling, including; labelling, stocking, and organizing. 
  • Receives work order pre-pull materials list from Planner and coordinates inventory availability with Production and Procurement departments. 
  • Processes all received shipments to ensure that materials meet purchase order specifications. 
  • Receives and unloads parts, picks and packages products for fabrication and detail departments. 
  • Ensure accuracy of received shipments by comparing the quantity and type of goods received to supporting documentation, such as waybills, packing slips, and purchase orders. 
  • Documents and controls aged and damaged product, tracks and reports all non-conforming product. 
  • Provides team with complete information on items short shipped, over shipped, or damaged. 
  • Reviews daily inventory activity and updates records accordingly. 
  • Maintains product identification and location program. Ensures inventory meets labelling requirements. 
  • Notifies supervisor of irregularities and when stock reached re-order point. 
  • Performs cycle counts and physical inventory counts

Requirements:

  • Must possess a minimum of two year's of relevant work experience in a similar role.
  • Willing to work overtime as required 
  • Experience with using and driving a forklift. 
  • Proficient in identifying materials by dimensions (metric and imperial). 
  • Experienced with proper rigging and overhead crane use an asset
  • Must be reliable and dependable (i.e.: punctual and ready to work).
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Must be able to take initiative, work independently as well as in a team. 
  • Computer literate and previous experience working with MS Excel an asset. 

Other Requirements:

  • Must have CSA approved safety boots.
  • Forklift & Crane certification is an asset
  • WHMIS certification is an asset
  • Must be able to manually lift up to 50lbs
  • Must have own transportation as location is not accessible with public transportation.
