Technical Sales Representative

The Technical Sales Representative is responsible for establishing and maintaining profitable relationships with customers on behalf of the company and for actively prospecting for new accounts and maximizing sales potential with customers. Plan and coordinate sales and training within your territory market.  Responsible for setting goals and managing to expectations.  You will collaborate with the Bay Metal Works management team to establish yearly business plan and budget.

Responsibilities:

  • Oversee regional sales territory.
  • Understand and resolve customer complaints in an equitable way for both parties.
  • Analyze monthly sales reports to monitor customer performance and determine areas of sales focus and efforts
  • Accountability for revenue and sales growth.
  • Represent the full offerings of the company to our business accounts and the metal fabrication community you service. 
  • Understand all the attributes of Bay Metal Works entire product offering so you can effectively communicate across all sales and production channels.
  • Complete reports timely and thoroughly.
  • Identify prospects, customers, and referral sources and develop/maintain relationships.
  • Manage short -and- long term leads to qualify prospects and advance them through the sales process.
  • Manage data through tools accessible (e.g., database, computerized call calendars and time management systems).
  • Present and discuss Company products and services to current and prospective customers.
  • Perform and draw conclusions from market assessments, competitor analyses, and pricing strategies.
  • Develop a strategic sales plan that identifies prospects and customers.
  • Develop a call schedule to adequately cover territory and provide feedback.
  • Keep current on new products, technology, customers, vendors and competitors that enter in our market area.
  • Understand and comply with the sales program in place.
  • Review blueprint drawings and specifications for qualifying the prospect and project are a good fit for the company.
  • Provide technical support to customers, engineers and purchasing personnel related to product applications.
  • Some overnight travel required.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Sales and Marketing, or related field, preferred. 
  • 5-10 years of sales experience.
  • Steel fabrication and blueprint knowledge.
  • Clean driving record.
