The NPS Experienced Services Program is a unique partnership created to help solve the workforce issues facing government agencies. The program connects experienced workers (age 55+) to the NPS to provide scientific, technical, and administrative support.
NPS ESP positions are meant to provide temporary, project-based support. This position is currently funded for an estimate of 15.4 weeks.
A background security investigation may be required prior to the start date.? Only those positions with 30+ hours per week are eligible for health insurance benefits; all positions will accrue sick leave.?
The experienced workers participating in the Program are referred to as ?Enrollees? and are not employees of the NPS or NEW Solutions. NEW Solutions is the ESP non-governmental organization responsible for administrative aspects of the program, and the Enrollees work under NPS direction to assist the Agency staff in carrying out their mission.? NPS ESP Enrollees benefit from the opportunity to keep technical skills current; to access new training opportunities; to engage in gainful project-based positions; and to undertake meaningful tasks using their experience and talent to contribute to the environment, the national economy, and their own financial security.

Qualifications:Minimum of 5 year(s) of experience in visual graphic and media design OR BA/BS Degree in Visual graphic and media design OR Previously completed training in visual graphic and media design - Experience using current graphic and media software systems. Will need to have own equipment and software.

Duties:Works in collaboration with NPS training design teams to plan, develop, and create Section 508 compliant visually engaging and effective graphic and media elements to enhance training/developmental products on a variety of topics and disciplines. Products will be used for online, live virtual or classroom training. - Graphic Design ? Create visually appealing graphics, illustrations and layouts for various purposes such as print publications, digital media and presentations. Applies Section 508 standards to ensure that all media produced are fully accessible. 60%
- Photography and Videography: Assist an NPS Visual Information Specialist or work independently to capture high-quality photographs and videos on location to be used for live and online training. (10%). Video and Photo editing: Edit and produce high-quality, engaging videos, including trimming, cutting, and arranging footage, adding transitions, moving graphics, music, sound effects and visual effects, color correcting and grading, and adding text overlays, captions, and audio description. Edit photos for clarity and composition, and to apply metadata including AltText. (20%) 30%
- Ensure that publications, websites, and other graphics incorporate sound interpretive design. Advises on technical advantages and disadvantages of various formats, styles, media and reproduction, suggesting those that will best meet the project objectives. 10%

- Travel Requirements: Limited travel may be needed for video/photography
- Overnight travel: Approximately one to two 2-3 day trips per year
- Air travel anticipated: depending on enrollee location, air travel may be required. Same frequency as above.
- Rental cars: depending on enrollee location, use of a rental car may be required. Same frequency as above.
- Required Safety Gear: Field safety equipment may be necessary to inspect burned areas
- Physical requirements: May need to be in the field for video/photography. This could include rough terrain, weather, standing/short hikes.
