The NPS Experienced Services Program is a unique partnership created to help solve the workforce issues facing government agencies. The program connects experienced workers (age 55+) to the NPS to provide scientific, technical, and administrative support.
NPS ESP positions are meant to provide temporary, project-based support. This position is currently funded for an estimate of 52 weeks.
A background security investigation may be required prior to the start date.? Only those positions with 30+ hours per week are eligible for health insurance benefits; all positions will accrue sick leave.?
The experienced workers participating in the Program are referred to as ?Enrollees? and are not employees of the NPS or NEW Solutions. NEW Solutions is the ESP non-governmental organization responsible for administrative aspects of the program, and the Enrollees work under NPS direction to assist the Agency staff in carrying out their mission.? NPS ESP Enrollees benefit from the opportunity to keep technical skills current; to access new training opportunities; to engage in gainful project-based positions; and to undertake meaningful tasks using their experience and talent to contribute to the environment, the national economy, and their own financial security.

Qualifications:Minimum of 15 year(s) of experience in event/meeting planning and management, preferably in a large-scale or corporate setting OR BA/BS Degree - ?Proven track record of successfully planning and executing events/meetings with 500+ attendees.
- ?Strong project management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- ?Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a customer service-oriented approach.
- ?Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and travel as required.
- ?Knowledge of environmental conservation and appreciation for the mission of the National Park Service (preferred).

Duties:The Meeting Planner is responsible for orchestrating the 2025 Administrative Officers and Facility Managers in-person training of over 600 employees. This role demands a seasoned professional with extensive experience in event planning and management, capable of executing large-scale gatherings with precision and excellence. The meeting planner will collaborate closely with the training sponsors and curriculum coordination teams to help ensure the training delivers an exceptional experience for participants - Event Strategy and Planning - Collaborate with stakeholders and planning committee to understand meeting objectives, themes, and desired outcomes. Develop comprehensive meeting plan, including timelines, budgets, and resource allocation. Coordinate with vendors and suppliers to secure necessary services, such as audiovisual equipment and transportation. 35%
- Logistics Management - Oversee all logistical aspects of meeting execution, including attendee registration, accommodations, and transportation. Coordinate with facilities management teams to ensure venues are set up according to specifications. Manage inventory and distribution of event materials and signage. Implement contingency plans and troubleshoot any logistical challenges that arise during the meeting. 35%
- Communication and Stakeholder Engagement - Serve as the primary point of contact for internal stakeholders and external partners. Communicate meeting details, requirements, and expectations clearly and effectively. Foster positive relationships with vendors, sponsors, and other stakeholders to enhance meeting outcomes. Provide regular updates and reports on meeting planning progress to relevant parties. 20%
- On-Site Event Management - Lead on-site meeting coordination and management, ensuring all activities run smoothly and according to schedule. Supervise meeting staff and contractors to facilitate seamless operations. Address any issues or emergencies that arise during meeting promptly and decisively. Maintain a visible presence and be readily available to address participant inquiries and concerns. 10%
Other:- Required Certifications: Meeting planning certification, such as Certified Meeting Planner, Certified Government Meeting Planner or Certified Special Events Planner is preferred
