The Agricultural Conservation Experienced Services (ACES) Program offers unique opportunities in Scientific, Technical, and Agricultural support for individuals aged 55 and over to support the Department of Agriculture?s Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) through a grant administered program awarded to National Experienced Workforce Solutions (NEW Solutions). This is a unique program where your talents, expertise, and experience will truly be valued. The ACES program provides an opportunity to work side-by-side with NRCS staff that are doing important work every day. Qualifications:

Minimum of 10 year(s) of experience in Minimum of 10 years of experience in utilizing surveying and soil mapping databases, advising landowners on cost share program eligibility, inspecting proposed sites to determine need and feasibility on conservation practices, and conducting engineering surveys to be used in conservation planning. OR AA Degree in field of study directly related to soil and water conservation.

Duties:

This position provides technical assistance support for the delivery of NRCS Farm Bill conservation program as the Guthrie Center Field Office. The Soil Conservation Technician shall possess a practical knowledge of agriculture production, landscape nature resource concerns, The NRCS conservation planning process, and the NRCS Farm Bill programs.

  • Assist with field investigations, survey, design, layout, and checkout of engineering practices including but not limited to, Waterways (412), Ponds (378), Grade Stabilization practices (410), Pipelines for livestock water (516), waterers for livestock (514), associated Heavy Use Areas (561), Wells for livestock (642), Water and Sediment Control Basins (638), etc.   50%
  • Completes status reviews for Conservation Reserve Program practices including waterways, filter strips, native and introduced season seedings.   20%
  • Assists cattle producers in management of their grazing operations. This will include signing up producer for conservation practices using EQIP and RCPP: Working Lands Program. Also, designing and checkout of the Fencing standard, and Pasture and Hayland Seeding standard (512).   20%
  • Assist with design and practice certification of the Cover Crop conservation practice (340).   10%
