The NPS Experienced Services Program is a unique partnership created to help solve the workforce issues facing government agencies. The program connects experienced workers (age 55+) to the NPS to provide scientific, technical, and administrative support. NPS ESP positions are meant to provide temporary, project-based support. This position is currently funded for an estimate of 68 weeks. A background security investigation may be required prior to the start date.? Only those positions with 30+ hours per week are eligible for health insurance benefits; all positions will accrue sick leave.? The experienced workers participating in the Program are referred to as ?Enrollees? and are not employees of the NPS or NEW Solutions. NEW Solutions is the ESP non-governmental organization responsible for administrative aspects of the program, and the Enrollees work under NPS direction to assist the Agency staff in carrying out their mission.? NPS ESP Enrollees benefit from the opportunity to keep technical skills current; to access new training opportunities; to engage in gainful project-based positions; and to undertake meaningful tasks using their experience and talent to contribute to the environment, the national economy, and their own financial security.

Qualifications:

Minimum of 15 year(s) of experience in philanthropy, fundraising, policy development, and/or ethics. Experience in partnerships is helpful but much of the work will be specific to philanthropic partnerships. OR BA/BS Degree

  • Experience required with Windows, MS Word, MS Excel, Power Point
Duties:

Support (1) development of strategy and the implementation of projects and programs relating to national partnerships for the National Park Service with a strong focus on the National Park Foundation and Friends Alliance and (2) the development and coordination of national priorities and policies for philanthropic partnership activities and services throughout the National Park System.

  • Collaborate with the National Park Foundation (NPF): Support NPS efforts to collaborate with the NPF, including strategy, agenda support, and program and project management and implementation; coordinate corporate volunteer efforts associated with NPF; support NPF-corporate marketing campaigns; review grant proposals and agreements; and review donors to protect the agency?s reputation and fulfill its fiduciary responsibilities to the public   50%
  • Partnership Policy Development and Support to Regional Partnerships Staff and Parks: Provide advice, best practices, and support to Regional Partnerships and park staff on partnerships, donations, fundraising, and partnership agreements; work with parks, programs and partners in the resolution of issues/needs/questions related to NPS partnerships policy; make recommendations for improvements to existing policy; and contribute to updates of philanthropic partnerships policy, SOPs, tools and templates   30%
  • Mentor interns who assist with the work described above.   20%

  • Travel Requirements: Travel is optional, but not required
  • Air travel anticipated: 3-4 times optional travel per year to Washington, DC, for Friends Alliance and Public Lands Alliance conference, or similar
  • Rental cars: If travel is undertaken, rental cars may be required.
