The Agricultural Conservation Experienced Services (ACES) Program offers unique opportunities in Scientific, Technical, and Agricultural support for individuals aged 55 and over to support the Department of Agriculture?s Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) through a grant administered program awarded to National Experienced Workforce Solutions (NEW Solutions). This is a unique program where your talents, expertise, and experience will truly be valued. The ACES program provides an opportunity to work side-by-side with NRCS staff that are doing important work every day. Benefits: Paid Health Insurance Premium for positions budgeted at 60+ hours per pay period, Accrued Vacation and Sick Leave, Paid Federal Holidays, and optional Vision and Dental Insurance available for positions budgeted at 35+ hours per pay period. Qualifications:

Minimum of 5 year(s) of experience in Areas related to the duties and responsibilities of the position. OR AA Degree in General area of study. AA degree or HS Diploma.

  • Valid State Driver?s license.
  • Experience required with Windows, MS Word, MS Excel
  • PowerPoint, NRCS Conservation Desktop, ProTracts, ArcGIS.
Duties:

Provides USDA Farm Bill programmatic assistance to the Assistant State Conservationist - Field Operations (Area 1) and field offices related to the implementation of Farm Bill programs for South Carolina.

  • Provides program support for the implementation of Farm Bill programs in South Carolina. Duties include typing, copying, editing, reviewing, mailing documents, scanning, analyzing data, and developing spreadsheets and other electronic files. Also, includes the use of NRCS business tools associated with Farm Bill delivery, including but not limited to, Conservation Desktop and Protracts.   50%
  • Assists in the monitoring of Farm Bill programs in accordance with appropriate rules, policy, and guidance. Maintains tracking and controls of programmatic records, management, and organization of information.   20%
  • Communicates with and greets customers. Assists and coordinates training and meetings. Prepares letters, reports, and email communications. Files and organizes information. Prepares documents, uploads, and retrieves information from SharePoint, and enters information into Excel spreadsheets and relational databases. Other duties as assigned.   20%
  • Assist with the contract agreements. Communicate with program managers and program recipients to collect documentation, submit reports and payments.   10%

  • Annual information system security, anti-harassment, civil rights, and program related training.
  • Travel Requirements: Occasionally to satisfy the duties of the position. Government vehicle provided when traveling between the Area and Field offices.
  • Remote work arrangements are available for this position.
