Qualifications:

Minimum of 15 year(s) of experience OR HS/GED Degree

  • Must have been a Certified Sale Administrator, Forest Service Representative, Contracting Officer or Regional Office Program Leader Timber Sale Administration in the Forest Service within the past fifteen years.
  • Must possess a valid driver's license, ability to coordinate and conduct timber sale administration duties, knowledge of federal timber sale contracts and contracting procedures, knowledge of forestry land management theories, concepts, and practices, and skill in communication and interpersonal relations.
  • Experience required with Windows, MS Word, MS Excel
Duties:

As an individual considered an expert in the field of Timber Sale Administration, trains and coaches Forest Service employees performing duties covering the entire array of Timber Sales Administration activities.

  • Mentors and advises Timber Sale Administrators and Timber Staff in the process of field inspections of purchaser operations.   40%
  • Shadows and reviews work of Timber Sale Administrators as they inspect work for compliance with contract specifications and provisions, and ensure contractual obligations are met before recommending sale closure   30%
  • Reviews timber sale statements or accounts prepared by Timber Sale Administrators to ensure sufficiency and accuracy of assessments; advises on activities and methods to make improvements.   10%
  • Provides guidance and advice in the review and assessment of timber sale contracts and pre-sale data to determine sufficiency and viability.   10%
  • Prepares the employee for field certification to become a Certified Timber Sale Administrator   10%

Other:
  • Travel Requirements: May be required to travel to remote locations to meet with others involved with timber sale operations
  • Overnight travel: Up to 1 to 2 days per week
  • Required Safety Gear: Hard Hat and Safety Vest
  • Safety Gear Use: Hard hats will be required as per the Job Hazard Analysis, but will be required while out of the vehicle and in the woods. A safety vest will be required as per the Job Hazard Analysis, but at a minimum while working in road rights-of-way of county, state, and federal highways.
  • Physical requirements: Physical requirements include the dexterity to reach, stand, climb, move, considerable walking, bending, lifting 50 pounds, and the ability to work outside in all weather conditions.
