Engineering Project Lead

The Engineering Project Lead is responsible for all aspects of a new product from concept to delivery.  This is often a hands-on job requiring specific design or process development for many different products and a Project management job to define requirements, schedules, required resources, estimated costs, design reviews, risk, failure analysis, customer interaction, etc. to meet project objectives.  

Essential Functions:

  • PRODUCT DEVELOPMENT
  • Interface with sales/BD, engineering and/or customers to develop new product requirements
  • Develop engineering design, performance and test specifications for products
  • Create detailed product development plans, reports and supporting documentation (schedule, design reviews, prototypes, test plans and procedures, budgets, etc)
  • Understand product costs and provide to sales as cost inputs
  • Provide NRE, RE and resource requirements addressing opportunities
  • Direct and contribute to the development of the product.  This may include design, process development, testing, customer interface, etc. 
  • PROJECT MANAGEMENT
  • Prioritize engineering tasks and efforts per sales priorities.
  • Proactively provide product, problem, and project information to Amphenol FSI management and sales
  • Organize product information for sales/web page use
  • Develop sales and customer training packages
  • Produce proposals and enable quoting
  • Contribute to sales related product line literature (data sheets, web pages, product drawings, catalog info)
  • PRODUCT SUPPORT
  • Problem or quality resolution
  • Cost reduction
  • Supplier development

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of military, oil field or telecommunication assemblies.  .
  • The desire and ability to solve problems across a broad spectrum of processes and assemblies.
  • Ability to read and interpret assembly drawings as well as internal and customer specifications
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and blue prints.
  • Possess strong project management skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Detail oriented
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Strong team player and ability to build effective relationships within the organization

Required Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering required
  • Minimum 5+ years’ Project Management experience delivering complex and technical customer projects
  • U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident to satisfy AFSI ITAR requirements
