Production Manager

Located in Iroquois, ON, Craig Packaging is one of Chicago-based Republic Packaging Corp.'s eight North American operating locations. As a 60-year-old provider of cushion packaging Republic Packaging is known for outstanding design, quality, and customer service – Craig, which specializes in corrugated packaging, shares the same tremendous design, quality, and service capabilities as our parent. In addition, we also provide warehouse management services that can complement our packaging products or be a stand-alone service to provide solutions to our customers' problems.

Focusing on the future and growth, we are actively working to grow our sales by 50% over the next 3 years and enter new markets with innovative packaging and service offerings. To accomplish and sustain that we are seeking an energetic, enthusiastic and results-driven Production Manager to complement our team.

This position will:

  • Direct and support manufacturing, assembly, and shipping/receiving activities
  • Engage supervisory and production staff on a regular, daily basis to ensure objectives are met
  • Plan manufacturing workload to maintain efficiency while being able to meet customer requirements
  • Be responsible for general facility operations, equipment, and service providers
  • Communicate with the corporate office regarding activities and objectives
  • Manage supervisory production staff, warehouse leads and maintenance manager.
  • Conduct performance evaluations that are timely and constructive.
  • Handle discipline and termination of employees as needed and in accordance with company policy. 
  • Oversee the production process to ensure delivery of high-quality products that meet customers' needs.
  • Ensure appropriate production rate to reduce delivery delays.
  • Collaborate with the customer service and sales departments to identify and resolve quality concerns.
  • Identify any bottlenecks or delays in production; ensure necessary labor, materials, and other resources are available to relieve production bottlenecks and delays.
  • Use production planning and scheduling to limit materials shortages.
  • Ensure production machinery complies with professional and safety standards.
  • Perform and/or coordinates safety and equipment training.
  • Coordinate supervisory staff and activities for monthly inventory.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

What you bring:

  • Minimum of 10 years of manufacturing experience
    • At least 5 years in a supervisory or managerial capacity and a strong preference for experience in packaging
  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain or a Manufacturing discipline preferred.
  • Understanding of basic inventory control as well as principles and practices surrounding inventory and warehouse management.
  • Familiarity with the Microsoft Office Suite and a good working knowledge of Outlook, MSWord, and MSExcel
  • Ability to interpret drawings, work orders and routing instructions and promote improvements within those.
  • Experience working within and administering ISO protocols
  • Knowledge of and ability to direct standard shipping and receiving procedures.
