Ambulance Technician

The Muscatine Fire Department is seeking part time ambulance technicians to help staff the ambulance service.

Work involves responding to medical emergencies; responds to non-emergency calls for service; stands by at fire scenes and at community events prepared to respond to medical emergencies.

Participates in emergency response drills and routine training sessions, including instructions in the latest emergency response techniques. Includes training required for recertification.

The City provides assistance with the requirements for EMT recertification.

Beginning wage is with regular pay increases:

  EMT

           18.09

  AEMT

             18.54

  Paramedic

           18.99

WORK SCHEDULE:

Part-time on an on call basis. These employees will be called to work as needed by the department, but must be available at least 24 hours per month on average.

QUALIFICATIONS:

 

 

  • High School graduation or GED
  • EMT certification, minimum.
  • Knowledge and ability to use computers and various software programs
  • Ability to acquire thorough knowledge of street systems in the City of  Muscatine and  Muscatine County
  • Possession of a current State of Iowa Class D license with endorsement 3 within the first 60 days of employment and

                continued maintenance of the license throughout period of employment.

  • Must be insurable by the City's insurance company.
  • Ability to pass background check, physical and drug screen prior to employment.

 

 




Hiring Process
For civil service positions, applications are screened for minimum qualifications. Applicants meeting the criteria will be invited to participate in the civil service testing process.
