Shop Floor Lead

Responsibilities:

  • Lead, supervise, and mentor a team of Mechanics, providing guidance, training, and support to ensure high quality maintenance and repairs
  • Oversee the scheduling and assignment of work orders, ensuring optimal utilization of resources and adherence to production timelines
  • Monitor and track work progress, identifying and resolving any bottlenecks or issues that may impact timeliness of repairs
  • Work on overflow projects solo or with technicians
  • This is a technician based supervisor role – Will still be working on trucks as needed  
  • Help with coordinating parts for technicians and keeping inventory levels where needed
  • Troubleshoot installation questions with the technicians and supervisor
  • Collaborate with the team to prioritize work orders and implement process improvements for enhanced efficiency
  • Ensure compliance with safety regulations and promote a culture of safety awareness among shop team
  • Conduct regular inspections of technician work quality
  • Maintain accurate records of job orders, work progress, and inventory levels while utilizing appropriate systems or software
  • Proactively communicate updates on repairs
  • Provide technical expertise and assistance to technicians, offering guidance in complex repairs, diagnostics, or problem-solving
  • Foster a positive work environment, encouraging teamwork, collaboration, and professional development among shop personnel
  • Develop and implement standard operating procedures (SOPs) and best practices to streamline shop operations and ensure consistent quality output
  • Road tests vehicles when required
  • Successful applicants must provide their own tools

 

Requirements:

  • Valid driver's license 
  • 3+ years of experience preferred
  • High School Diploma/GED or equivalent
  • Good communication skills
  • Must be self-motivated and able to work with a team
  • Basic computer skills
