Qualifications:

Minimum of 15 year(s) of experience OR BA/BS Degree in Agriculture, natural resource, agronomy or related field of study.

Duties:

Provides expertise and technical writing assistance in archaeology to Klamath River Basin Wildfire Crisis Strategy (WCS) Landscape projects.

  • Analyze archaeological data for WCS projects. Make recommendations of effect and eligibility to the IDT. Compile information about the nature and extent of known cultural resources.   40%
  • Prepares Cultural Resource Inventory reports and site forms. Enters site and inventory information into databases and onto GIS maps.   40%
  • Provide Archaeology support for WCS projects as needed.   20%

  • Information awareness security training on-line.
  • Travel Requirements: Travel will be required to access areas proposed for treatment in the field. Some travel to Klamath NF SO to meet with FS personnel and to discuss/download information.
  • Overnight travel: One overnight per trip may be required.
  • Air travel anticipated: Up to three trips may be required for site visits.
  • Rental cars: Up to three trips may be required for site visits.
  • Health and Safety Considerations: A Job Hazard Analysis will be required to be read and signed prior to initiating any field work. Personnel will be required to have a current driver's license to drive vehicles for the project.
  • Required Safety Gear: Gloves, hard hat, steel-toed shoes, safety goggles/glasses, safety vest, leather boots (at least 8" height), long pants.
  • Safety Gear Use: Personnel engaged in field work must wear a hard hat, leather boots and long pants when on field assignment.
  • Physical requirements: The following activities can be expected: walking on roads, hiking over obstacles, rocks, down logs. Working during temperature extremes of very cold temps to very hot temps during summer months. Exposure to hot sun, rainstorms, snow, etc. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions of this position.
