This position supports the Bureau of Land Management Southern Nevada District Office. ? The BLM Experienced Services Program is a unique partnership created to help solve the workforce issues facing government agencies. The program connects experienced workers (age 55+) to the BLM to provide scientific, technical, and administrative support. ? BLM ESP positions are meant to provide temporary, project-based support. This position is currently funded for an estimate of 52 weeks. ? A background security investigation may be required prior to the start date. Only those positions with 30+ hours per week are eligible for health insurance benefits; all positions will accrue sick leave. ? The experienced workers participating in the Program are referred to as ?Enrollees? and are not employees of the BLM or NEW Solutions. NEW Solutions is the ESP non-governmental organization responsible for administrative aspects of the program, and the Enrollees work under BLM direction to assist the Agency staff in carrying out their mission. BLM ESP Enrollees benefit from the opportunity to keep technical skills current; to access new training opportunities; to engage in gainful project-based positions; and to undertake meaningful tasks using their experience and talent to contribute to the environment, the national economy, and their own financial security.

Qualifications:

Minimum of 10 year(s) of experience in Project management or project planning on an interdisciplinary team OR BA/BS Degree in Planning, Natural Resources or related

Duties:

Tracks project schedules, coordinates with external contractors and proponents, and manages review, drafting of documents, and other responsibilities associated with project management for assigned projects.

  • Research current status and factors. Interprets Departmental and Bureau policy and directives as they affect Field Office planning and programs.   20%
  • Analyze - scope of problem and effectiveness of strategies addressing them, developing objectives, work programs and plans for approved projects/contracts as directed by BLM.   20%
  • Budget - Identify costs and identify funding mechanisms. Coordinates administrative activities in support of operational programs entailing a responsibility for ensuring a sound organization of the most effective and efficient utilization of personnel, equipment, material, and financial records. Meet timelines established at the beginning of project.   20%
  • Communications - evaluate available materials and make recommendations. Coordinate internal and external communication with stakeholders including local interest groups, the general public, State and local government, and other Federal personnel.   20%
  • Outreach/Partnering - identify partners BLM can leverage and make contacts   20%

  • Health and Safety Considerations: Field visits could have health and safety considerations.
  • Required Safety Gear: Personal protective equipment for field visits.
  • Safety Gear Use: During field trips to active construction sites, as needed.
  • Physical requirements: Position will be primarily sedentary in nature but could include walking on uneven terrain, stooping, bending, and standing while viewing the field site.
  • Remote work arrangements are available for this position.
