This position supports the Bureau of Land Management Southern Nevada District Office. ? The BLM Experienced Services Program is a unique partnership created to help solve the workforce issues facing government agencies. The program connects experienced workers (age 55+) to the BLM to provide scientific, technical, and administrative support. ? BLM ESP positions are meant to provide temporary, project-based support. This position is currently funded for an estimate of 52 weeks. ? A background security investigation may be required prior to the start date. Only those positions with 30+ hours per week are eligible for health insurance benefits; all positions will accrue sick leave. ? The experienced workers participating in the Program are referred to as ?Enrollees? and are not employees of the BLM or NEW Solutions. NEW Solutions is the ESP non-governmental organization responsible for administrative aspects of the program, and the Enrollees work under BLM direction to assist the Agency staff in carrying out their mission. BLM ESP Enrollees benefit from the opportunity to keep technical skills current; to access new training opportunities; to engage in gainful project-based positions; and to undertake meaningful tasks using their experience and talent to contribute to the environment, the national economy, and their own financial security.

Qualifications:

Minimum of 10 year(s) of experience in hydrology on an interdisciplinary team OR BA/BS Degree in Hydrology, Planning, Natural Resources or related

Duties:

Provide professional support to BLM staff as a subject matter expert for hydrology and other related resources in the development of the Energy & Infrastructure Team's priority projects.

  • Review project related hydrologic data and reports.   50%
  • Provide guidance on projects hydrologic data and modeling needs.   20%
  • Participate in projects with the ID team.   20%
  • Assist in maintaining internal workload tracking system, project and reference   10%

  • Travel Requirements: Depending on candidate travel to the site might be required.
  • Overnight travel: Depends on location of enrollee.
  • Air travel anticipated: Depends on location of enrollee
  • Health and Safety Considerations: Field visits could have health and safety considerations.
  • Required Safety Gear: Personal protective equipment for field visits.
  • Safety Gear Use: During field trips to active construction sites, as needed.
  • Physical requirements: Position will be primarily sedentary nature but could include walking on uneven terrain, stooping, bending, and standing while viewing the field site.
  • Remote work arrangements are available for this position.
