This position supports the Bureau of Land Management Southern Nevada District Office. ? The BLM Experienced Services Program is a unique partnership created to help solve the workforce issues facing government agencies. The program connects experienced workers (age 55+) to the BLM to provide scientific, technical, and administrative support. ? BLM ESP positions are meant to provide temporary, project-based support. This position is currently funded for an estimate of 52 weeks. ? A background security investigation may be required prior to the start date. Only those positions with 30+ hours per week are eligible for health insurance benefits; all positions will accrue sick leave. ? The experienced workers participating in the Program are referred to as ?Enrollees? and are not employees of the BLM or NEW Solutions. NEW Solutions is the ESP non-governmental organization responsible for administrative aspects of the program, and the Enrollees work under BLM direction to assist the Agency staff in carrying out their mission. BLM ESP Enrollees benefit from the opportunity to keep technical skills current; to access new training opportunities; to engage in gainful project-based positions; and to undertake meaningful tasks using their experience and talent to contribute to the environment, the national economy, and their own financial security.

Qualifications:

Minimum of 10 year(s) of experience in NEPA OR BA/BS Degree in Planning, Natural Resources or related

  • Experience in Planning, Natural Resources, NEPA, or related.
  • Experience required with Windows, MS Word, MS Excel

Duties:

Provide professional assistance to BLM staff engaged in reviewing and commenting on federal National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) documents for solar projects in the SNDO.

  • Review assigned NEPA documents and supporting materials as an associate reviewer; provide technical advice and draft comments based on subject matter expertise.   20%
  • Search for and screen Environmental Assessments to identify those that may warrant BLM review.   20%
  • Obtain and review Records of Decision to confirm that all agreed upon mitigation and other impact reduction measures have been incorporated.   20%
  • Assist in maintaining internal workload tracking system, project and reference   20%
  • Outreach/Partnering - identify partners BLM can leverage and make contacts   20%

  • Physical requirements: Position will be primarily sedentary in nature.
  • Remote work arrangements are available for this position.
