The Agricultural Conservation Experienced Services (ACES) Program offers unique opportunities in Scientific, Technical, and Agricultural support for individuals aged 55 and over to support the Department of Agriculture?s Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) through a grant administered program awarded to National Experienced Workforce Solutions (NEW Solutions). This is a unique program where your talents, expertise, and experience will truly be valued. The ACES program provides an opportunity to work side-by-side with NRCS staff that are doing important work every day. Qualifications:

Minimum of 20 year(s) of experience in Natural Resources OR PhD Degree in Natural Resources

  • Experience required with Windows, MS Word, MS Excel
Duties:

Assist with publications of RCA Appraisal, respond to comments during USDA clearance process; Assist with web-based graphics and documentation to include updating data from Agriculture Census, Agricultural Resources Management Survey (ARMS), and/or National Resources Inventory (NRI) data.

  • Assisting with final draft and publications of RCA Appraisal, including responding to comments that arise during USDA clearance process; help with web-based graphics and documentation; and updating data based on new Agriculture Census, Agricultural Resources Management Survey (ARMS), or National Resources Inventory (NRI) data.   25%
  • Working with the Resource Assessment Branch Data Lab to develop data handling systems for CPAMS surveys, which could include: Developing a ?data edit? algorithm to identify observations and variables for additional review, based on the expected range of responses and consistency with responses to other questions; Assessing survey response rates (overall and by item); Providing guidance for making basic non-response adjustments to survey weights; Preparing specifications for the RAB Data Lab to use in preparing a disclosure review package for NASS; Helping assemble the disclosure review package.   20%
  • Assisting in the conceptualization, drafting, and reviewing reports, as needed, for all CPAMS surveys; advising current staff on how to present analytical results in reports and presentations.   20%
  • Assistance with analysis and reporting of the CPAMS confined livestock data. Requires advanced data analysis skills and statistical survey experience.   20%
  • Assisting with development of future CPAMS surveys, including providing advice and knowledge transfer for development of survey sample specifications. Requires statistical training and extensive survey experience.   15%
