The Agricultural Conservation Experienced Services (ACES) Program offers unique opportunities in Scientific, Technical, and Agricultural support for individuals aged 55 and over to support the Department of Agriculture?s Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) through a grant administered program awarded to National Experienced Workforce Solutions (NEW Solutions). This is a unique program where your talents, expertise, and experience will truly be valued. The ACES program provides an opportunity to work side-by-side with NRCS staff that are doing important work every day. Qualifications:

Minimum of 10 year(s) of experience in wildlife or natural resources related field. Professional experience as a Soil Scientist working in the wetland conservation field. OR BA/BS Degree in Wildlife, Agronomy, Agriculture or related field.

  • Valid State Driver?s license.
  • Experience required with Windows, MS Word, MS Excel
  • Conservation deskstop, National Easements Staging Tool.
Duties:

Enrollee will provide support towards the promotion and delivery of the ACEP-WRE program. Provide assistance, training, and support to partners and field staff to prepare them for delivery of the program. Work independently with producers directly and indirectly to ultimately provide ecological lift to our existing easements and promote the enrollment of new easements. Assist with implementation, delivery, and technical support of Agricultural Conservation Easement Program (ACEP).

  • Perform annual monitoring duties as required by policy. Assist with the potential follow up that may occur from findings during monitoring activities. Prepares monitoring documents, uploads and retrieves information from SharePoint, enters information into Excel spreadsheets and related database. Includes ownership, onsite, and offsite reviews. Other duties as assigned.   60%
  • Provide assistance and training to new and existing partners and WET staff in the promotion, planning, implementation, and management of easements in WET West.   20%
  • Meets with easement holders on site and/or in the office to discuss easement requirements and management options. Assist with outreach and educational promotion of the ACEP program and the management options available to increase the ecological value of the easements.   10%
  • Perform tasks associated with the reconciliation of older WRP easements.   10%

Other:
  • Subject to mandatory USDA Computer Security and Privacy training as mandated by law.
  • Travel Requirements: This position may require travel to the field and other Field Offices within the WET West coverage area using GOV.
  • Overnight travel: The only overnight travel might be for statewide Water Resources Meetings within the state. These are minimal, no more than 2 times per year.
  • Health and Safety Considerations: N/A
  • Required Safety Gear: Enrollee should wear sturdy, safe walking shoes/boots suitable for rough terrain; enrollee should wear clothing suitable for inclement weather when necessary; proper safety certification and required precautions used when operating an ATV. Work is performed outside.
