Hands-On Estate Manager For a Significant Equestrian Property

Position Summary:

A private principal would like to hire a seasoned professional to provide hands-on management of their expansive equestrian-focused property outside Boston, MA.

The right candidate has experience in land and grounds management, conservation, and equestrian operations. To be successful in this role you have overseen teams, projects, vendors, and contractors.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Assume 360-degree responsibility for the maintenance and care of the property and facilities, working alongside the established team.
  • Supervise the team, offer additional training, and conduct annual performance reviews.
  • Attend to the principal's vision for the property and provide reports and updates in a timely and concise manner.
  • Plan and execute preventative maintenance specific to system management to ensure the principal's standards are upheld. Maintain excellent vendor relationships.
  • Oversee design and execution of regionally appropriate landscaping and hardscaping throughout the expansive property.
  • Demonstrate understanding of agricultural practices and in a manner that assures the safety of people and animals.
  • Communicate effectively with the property and Family Office teams.

 

Qualifications:

The right person is a detail-oriented and effective leader with strong problem-solving skills. You must have 10-15 years in a similar role or related experience including a general understanding of construction and various trades. You should have experience managing successful projects on a farm, ranch, or rural estate and operating tools and heavy machinery. The right candidate has fluency in MS Office Suite, MS Project, Asana and experience writing reports and emails to update a team. The principal sees Spanish language skills as a plus. The ideal candidate is seeking a long-term opportunity. Verifiable references required.

 

Schedule:

Generally, Monday to Friday, 8:00 am to 5:00 pm with flexibility to work extended hours and weekends when needed.

 

Compensation:

Base compensation of $175,000 - $200,000 offered, depending on experience. This role offers excellent benefits (annual discretionary bonus, health/dental/vision, 401(k) with match, PTO, paid holidays, and more. Relocation assistance provided as needed.
