The Agricultural Conservation Experienced Services (ACES) Program offers unique opportunities in Scientific, Technical, and Agricultural support for individuals aged 55 and over to support the Department of Agriculture?s Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) through a grant administered program awarded to National Experienced Workforce Solutions (NEW Solutions). This is a unique program where your talents, expertise, and experience will truly be valued. The ACES program provides an opportunity to work side-by-side with NRCS staff who are doing important work every day. Benefits: Paid Health Insurance Premium for positions budgeted at 60+ hours per pay period, Accrued Vacation and Sick Leave, Paid Federal Holidays, and optional Vision and Dental Insurance available for positions budgeted at 35+ hours per pay period. Qualifications:

Minimum of 15 year(s) of experience in using basic theories, principles, concepts, and terminology of economics to assist in the collection, analysis, and interpretation of economic data as it relates to agency projects and programs. OR BA/BS Degree in Agricultural Economics, Economics or Applied Economics,

  • Skill in operating personal computer software, as well as simple programming (including word processing, spreadsheets, email, file transfers, internet, timekeeping, and databases), to research, tabulate, and analyze economic data, prepare correspondence, finalize documents, and foster work improvement. Valid State Driver?s license
  • Experience required with Windows, MS Word, MS Excel, MS Access
  • PSA - Payment Schedule Application, PowerPoint
Duties:

Perform economic investigations for conservation planning, programs, and other related duties.

  • Responsible for collecting and analyzing economic data for installation, maintenance, and management of conservation practices. Coordinates maintenance of state and county cost lists that include cost-shared practices, maintenance of conservation practices, and costs for providing conservation technical assistance.   20%
  • Conducts Economic analyses of planning activities needed to appraise conservation planning alternatives.   20%
  • Performs related duties as assigned.   20%
  • Assists in collecting and analyzing economic data for watershed-scale natural resource project activities related to floodwater damages, soil erosion, drainage, irrigation, recreation, fish, and wildlife improvement.   15%
  • Responsible for preparing and keeping current economic data for the Field Office Technical Guide.   10%
  • Provides training to field office planners so that they can assist cooperators in determining conservation benefits that will result from the application of conservation measures and practices.    10%
  • Collaborates with other federal, state, and local agencies and individuals to secure data for economic studies, analyze these as to adaptability and use in the studies being made.    5%
