Charge Nurse - Pediatrics

 

Position Summary:  The Charge Nurse – Pediatrics provides clinical and administrative leadership for a defined department. The Charge Nurse collaborates with other Health Center departments to ensure comprehensive patient care delivery. The Charge Nurse supervises patient care and develops long-term plans for professional development on his/her team. Their role is to establish and maintain nursing standards and enforce them on their team to make sure that all staff implement best practices when interacting with patients and tracking their treatment. Charge Nurses supervise the volume of patients and delegate tasks to team members so they can efficiently process the flow of patients through the patient's visit. They seek out training and growth opportunities, giving consistent feedback to their team. The Charge Nurse demonstrates the attributes of Caring Leadership, communicates effectively, and motivates others to achieve established outcomes. The Charge Nurse educates staff, develops goals to improve efficiency, evaluates treatment plans and works with practice partners to provide patient-centered care. Serves as the liaison between the primary care team, patient, and specialists. Collaborates with patients, families, primary and specialty care providers in multiple practice sites to facilitate access to services specifically related to the patient's health care needs. Remains current with advances in healthcare technology.

  9. Carries out daily activities within appropriate ethical, regulatory, and legal standards and adheres to the Osborn Family Health Center, Inc.  "Corporate Compliance Code of Conduct Statement" policy as well as the other Corporate Compliance and HIPAA
  10. Assists in selection and recruitment of new employees.
  11. Is committed to creating a work environment that fosters pride, teamwork and continuous learning and associate ability to meet patient needs. 
  12. The RN Charge Nurse collaborates with other practice pods and service lines to ensure comprehensive patient care delivery.
  13. Implements policies, procedures, and directives as appropriate.
  14. Promotes a high level of employee, patient, and physician satisfaction.
  15. Develops and maintains positive relations with patients and their care team.
  16. Orients, directs, coaches, evaluates, and counsels staff.
  17. Monitors daily scheduling for timely flow and reduced wait times.
  18. Assists in patient care including rooming of patients, entering health information into EMR, administering injections, assisting with exam or diagnostic procedure setup.
  19. Contributes to creating a culture of Performance Improvement and safety, and to a learning environment that empowers, enriches, and supports employees and teams to provide high-quality, cost-effective services.

Education and Experience Required:

  • At least 1 year of experience in a Charge Nurse role, 2-4 years preferred in Pediatric Outpatient Experience
  • Valid and current NJ Nursing license
  • Current BLS/CPR for Health Care Providers and a Valid Driver's License
  • Certificate or diploma from an accredited medical training program.

  • Strong computer skills: EHR experience preferred.

Environmental Conditions:
Interior office setting, examination rooms.  The worker is subject to inside environmental conditions
Possible exposure to blood and body fluids.
