? This position supports the Chesapeake Gateways Network of the National Park Service and may be performed remotely. ? The NPS Experienced Services Program is a unique partnership created to help solve the workforce issues facing government agencies. The program connects experienced workers (age 55+) to the NPS to provide scientific, technical, and administrative support. ? NPS ESP positions are meant to provide temporary, project-based support. This position is currently funded for an estimate of 40 weeks. ? A background security investigation may be required prior to the start date. Only those positions with 30+ hours per week are eligible for health insurance benefits; all positions will accrue sick leave. ? The experienced workers participating in the Program are referred to as ?Enrollees? and are not employees of the NPS or NEW Solutions. NEW Solutions is the ESP non-governmental organization responsible for administrative aspects of the program, and the Enrollees work under NPS direction to assist the Agency staff in carrying out their mission. NPS ESP Enrollees benefit from the opportunity to keep technical skills current; to access new training opportunities; to engage in gainful project-based positions; and to undertake meaningful tasks using their experience and talent to contribute to the environment, the national economy, and their own financial security.

Qualifications:

Minimum of 15 year(s) of experience in Office Management OR AA/HS Degree

  • Experience in a Federal office environment
  • Experience required with Windows, MS Word, MS Excel
  • Microsoft SharePoint, Teams, Outlook
Duties:

This position performs technical and administrative support duties for the National Park Service Chesapeake Office. Work typically entails a variety of assigned activities, such as editing and reviewing position descriptions, developing and maintaining office SharePoint site, file organizational management restructuring, retrieval and organization, data entry, and maintenance of information management systems. Ensures accuracy and completeness or correspondence, including format, grammar, punctuation, and compliance with NPS Correspondence Guidelines.

  • Advise and assist with annual budget planning and tracking following NPS governing rules, policies, and regulations.   20%
  • Support general office administration functions, information requests, policy clarification, file management, Vendor communications, etc.   25%
  • Assist with HR functions such as reviewing and editing vacancy announcements, updating PDs, onboarding new hires.   20%
  • Develop office sharepoint site and assist in the organization and file transfer of documents. Maintain files and reference materials, update and develop Standard Operating Procedures.   35%

  • NPS systems and processes
  • Travel Requirements: 1-2 trips per year of up to one week. Trips to the office to meet the team in person and assist with office file organization and structuring projects.
  • Overnight travel: 1-2 trips per year of up to one week.
  • Air travel anticipated: Best mode of transportation may be required periodically throughout the length of the project.
  • Rental cars: Rental cars may be required.
  • Physical requirements: Position is primarily sedentary with occasional visits to park headquarters.
  • Remote work arrangements are available for this position.
