The Agricultural Conservation Experienced Services (ACES) Program offers unique opportunities in Scientific, Technical, and Agricultural support for individuals aged 55 and over to support the Department of Agriculture?s Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) through a grant administered program awarded to National Experienced Workforce Solutions (NEW Solutions). This is a unique program where your talents, expertise, and experience will truly be valued. The ACES program provides an opportunity to work side-by-side with NRCS staff that are doing important work every day. Qualifications:

Minimum of 20 year(s) of experience in Agriculture, natural resources, agronomy or related field of study. OR BA/BS Degree in Agriculture, natural resources, agronomy or related field of study.

  • Driver's License, Experience with NRCS Watershed Programs. Expert analysis of NRCS program performance.
  • Experience required with Windows, MS Word, MS Excel
  • PowerPoint, IAS, Protracts, ACESS/HANA
Duties:

Assist the Watershed Programs Branch staff with program performance metrics and tracking including training, process development, support to States, coordination, and providing technical expertise.

  • Assist states with data and performance tracking/monitor program activities/timelines, augmentations /costs, completions, etc., assisting the Branch in program activities such as research, gathering and analyzing complex data to identify trends and develop reports with their recommendations for improvement, create policies and procedures for budgeting, tracking program performance and identifying and solving any issues for program performance and assist the Branch to identify short and long term strategies, define timelines that will serve as deliverables that are due from the states.   70%
  • Assisting the Branch in identifying training needs, providing constructive feedback, coaching state staff/ others on how to perform tasks, and identifying areas of improvement, shortfalls with the financial and non-financial requirements.   20%
  • Other tasks as assigned related to Branch programs implementation.   10%

  • Annual information system security, anti-harassment, and civil rights training.
  • Travel Requirements: May be needed for activities that require inspections or obtaining materials/visualizations of the physical areas or meeting sites or obtaining documentation.
  • Overnight travel: Travel requirements will vary but on average 2 weeks per year.
  • Air travel anticipated: Travel requirements will vary but on average 2 weeks per year.
  • Rental cars: Travel requirements will vary but on average 2 weeks per year.
