The Agricultural Conservation Experienced Services (ACES) Program offers unique opportunities in Scientific, Technical, and Agricultural support for individuals aged 55 and over to support the Department of Agriculture?s Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) through a grant administered program awarded to National Experienced Workforce Solutions (NEW Solutions). This is a unique program where your talents, expertise, and experience will truly be valued. The ACES program provides an opportunity to work side-by-side with NRCS staff that are doing important work every day. Qualifications:

Minimum of 10 year(s) of experience in working with federal and state agricultural and natural resource partners and functions to deliver conservation to private lands. OR BA/BS Degree in Soil Science, Agronomy, Forestry, Agriculture or related field.

  • Valid State Driver?s license.
  • Experience required with Windows, MS Word, MS Excel
  • Conservation desktop, Hel Determination tool and HEL/WC tracking tool, PowerPoint
Duties:

Enrollee will provide mentoring support to NRCS Field Offices and staff in the onboarding, office space utilization, and functions of partner and affiliate employees, and complete management and strategy functions to increase delivery of technical assistance at the field level.

  • Coordinates information technology services including IT resource planning and inventory management to meet local needs, systems access, access requests, organizing work, and controlling work products in conformance with existing laws, rules and regulations, guidelines, and policy.   34%
  • Provides support, and guidance, to the M & S unit and leadership team in planning, managing, coordinating, evaluating, and reporting to deliver conservation at the state, area, and/or field levels. Applies an understanding of the relationships between the assigned organizational component and the programs and functions of other NRCS organizations and other USDA and governmental agencies, in effectively accomplishing a broad range of complex services and functions.   33%
  • Coordinates office space issues for field/area offices and partners. This includes providing reports on the status of NRCS office space within the organizational component.   33%

  • Subject to mandatory USDA Computer Security and Privacy training as mandated by law.
  • Travel Requirements: This position may be required travel to Field Offices using GOV.

  • Required Safety Gear: Enrollee hours will primarily be completed in an office environment. If outide accomodations are needed, the enroll should be prepared to provide safe walking shoes/boots suitable for rough terrain; enrollee should wear clothing suitable for inclement weather when necessary.
